Tower Bridge to Lower Rd section opened today, 25th September 2020.
C4 begins at Queen ElizabethSt/Tooley St junction and runs for 2km to Lower Rd, just past the Rotherhithe Tunnel Roundabout. It is a 2-way segregated track starting on the river side of the road and crossing to the Southwark Park side at Southwark Park Road. It provides a cycle bypass at Abbey St and at the Tunnel Roundabout. A safe fast route on a busy commuter desire line. Bit more background in our 2017 post at the consultation.
The connection to Cycleway 14, which joins at the Tanner St/Shad Thames junction, is not finished, but is nearly there. Work has started on the section from Surrey Quays to Greenwich but have not seen a date for completion. Now we need a date for the start of the section through the Surrey Quays Gyratory.
For the present we can all enjoy 2km of the best-designed piece of cycling infrastructure in London.
