Southwark is installing width restrictions on Harper Road but someone doesn’t like them. Soon after the concrete blocks were installed on March 29th, the blocks were moved out of position and rotated to maximise the distance between them.
The blocks were repositioned. It happened again. This week, in an effort to stop tampering, the blocks were fastened to the road using bolts but within 24 hours, three of the blocks at Harper Road were damaged, bolts removed, with one block tipped over on its side. This is called criminal damage and Southwark are talking to the police.
The council is now taking urgent action to install a significantly more robust solution such as bollards. More news when available. They have stuff like this in mind:
The width restrictions are just a trial. We want bollards in the middle of the road not the edges. Still — nice to know they are annoying someone.
