The council has consultations on making Streatham Hill and Tulse Hill low traffic neighborhoods permenant. https://love.lambeth.gov.uk/streatham-hill-tulse-hill-consultation/
All of these need to happen in the next four years for Southwark to meet its net zero emissions targets by 2030. Let's get cracking!
5 asks from @southwarkcycle and @livingstreets to boost active travel
1. Reduce through traffic on neighbourhood Sts
2. Walking and cycling routes must be built quickly
3. Tackle parking
4. Enable car-free journeys to schools
5. Achieve 'Vision Zero'
New Gov’t opinion polling released today shows “encouraging people to walk or cycle instead of driving a car” has 75% public support (the most of any option). 4% oppose.
Encouraging use of EVs has 59% support.
We shouldn’t let a noisy minority thwart progress on active travel.
Good news that Southwark looks to be supporting the Walworth Healthy Streets Low Traffic Neighbourhoods in the longer term. https://twitter.com/WalworthSociety/status/1461402496132423682
