Here’s our newsletter for February. If you want it to your inbox, then sign up here. Please note this newsletter was sent mid-week so the Healthy Ride mentioned below has already passed. Find the next ride on our calendar.

This month we have an exciting meeting with Will Norman, two important consultations that need your support, and as always, our weekly bike rides that start all over Southwark.

Will Norman speaking at our next meeting

Join us on Wednesday, February 12th at 7.30pm for our meeting with London’s Walking and Cycling Commissioner, Will Norman. We’ll be asking him about progress on major cycle routes in Southwark, recent changes in cycleway standards, and how campaigners can be more effective.

Spaces are limited, so please register to attend. We kindly ask you to update your RSVP if you can no longer join us.

This event will be at The Bridge at 81 Southwark Bridge Road. For more details check the registration link above.

Our Healthy Streets: Dulwich Consultation

Southwark has just opened the consultation on a Low Traffic Neighbourhood scheme in Dulwich Village and it needs your support.

Here is how you can take action:

  1. Fill out the consultation! It only takes 5 minutes, and if you’re short on time just answer the multiple choice options. We have created a guide to help you.
  2. If you live nearby, talk to people in the community. We have some key points on our website.
  3. Attend one of the workshops in the area. Dates are on our website.
  4. Show your support on social media and don’t forget to tag us on Twitter @southwarkcycle.

We are glad to hear that the council listened to resident opinions and is placing filters in the areas that will cut down on rat running and enable active travel in the area. They are also considering additional filters and mitigations in the surrounding area.

Peckham High Street Consultation

TfL is also consulting on urgent safety changes to Peckham High Street. There isn’t much improvement for cyclists, but this is an interim scheme addressing a number of pedestrian fatalities. Read our response guide and fill out the consultation to ask for cycling safety improvements, too.

Go on one of our weekly Healthy Rides

Did you know we lead easy-paced rides every week of the year? They start in a different location each Saturday morning. The rides are open to all, and if you’re a new cyclist they’re a great way to get comfortable on the road.

This week we start at Canada Water and make our way to North Greenwich along the Thames Path. The ride starts at 10am from Deal Porter Square and will get you back to the start 2 hours later. More information can be found here.

Thanks for reading.

Happy cycling,

Jakub
