Ride 2. Cutty Sark to Hall Place

Hall Place in Bexley was a new destination for the Healthy Rides. The route was devised by and the ride led by Mike K. Fourteen riders set off from Cutty Sark and headed up the hill in Greenwich Park. At the top we collected David S. who had managed to get there without the climb. Across Blackheath then quiet streets to the path alongside the busy A2 Rochester Way. The path is a bit set back so not too unleasant. At Kidbrooke popped inder the A2 and continued parallel to the road until reaching Eltham Pleasaunce. Ignoring the Pleasaunce took busy Well Hall Rd under the rail bridge and immediately turned left past Eltham Station. Soon passing through Eltham Park South and across the bridge and past Falconwood Station. Path continued close to the A2 pretty much all the way to our destnation apart from brief diversions at the Danson Interchange and at Upton Rd. Final 400 m is tricky involving a insignalised right turm on to the biusy A420, then a left at the roundabout and finally another right turn from another biusy road, Bourne Rd. But we safey negotiated the route to arirve at Hall Place. Good cafe and lots to see. Particularly amazing are the large topiary bushes in the shape of fantastic animals. Three cyclists decided to stay at Hall Place as they wnted to spend more time exploring it. Others said they would return.

Return route followed the outwatd route. so lots of ridng close to the A2 – you can get a bit fed up with that. But it is mostly a good path so we sped back to Cutty Sark gettng there on time around 1.30. Thanks to Geraldine for backmarking.
