19 riders, Amanda leading with help from Jamie and Bruce. Peckham to a busy Covent Garden via Southwark Bridge. Stop at Covent Garden to have a look at the decorations in the old market building (see photo). From Covent Garden quiet streets route to Spitalsfield. Had a long break for coffee and, for some, a bit of shopping. Homeward across the city, past Leadenhall Market (that is the 3rd market!) and backto Peckham, pretty much on time. Big thankyou to Amandanot for this ride, and for all the monthly rides she has led in 2023.

Snowmen in the City – The Sequel

Ride on previous Saturday (report here) was pretty much washed out by heavy early mornng rain and an over pessimistic forecast. As registrations had shown a lot of interest, Jane was persuaded to repeat the ride. Here is her report.

With the overnight cancellations plus 3 more ‘no-shows’ on the day, 6 riders (including me) set off to see the Snowmen. The weather was cool but dry and we followed the route as planned – this time we encountered many more people following the trail on foot so it seems to be gaining in popularity with adults and children alike as Christmas approaches. We finished early and returned to Waterloo just before 12h00 via the Embankment and Westminster Bridge, where tourists were actually posing for photos amidst traffic in the main carriageway – obviously not enough space for them on the pavement and cycle path! Many photos were taken, there was a bit of singing, we had fun.
