Cutty Sark to Oxleas Wood Healthy Ride

IMPORTANT. Please register for the ride on Eventbrite so we can limit numbers, link:  https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/cutty-sark-to-oxleas-wood-cycle-ride-tickets-1994909223188?aff=oddtdtcreator

New ride from Cutty Sark. 10am start, finish 1.30 pm back at Cutty Sark. We ride to Oxleas Wood via Kidbrooke and Eltham avoiding big hills.  Up through Greenwich Park, across Blackheath onto Kidbrooke and then link up with Rochester Way and Welling Way to  Oxleas Wood. Coffee break at Oxleas Wood Cafe. Return on partly on woodland paths and then fairly direct route back to Greenwich. Note although most paths are surfaced there are stretches of unsurfaced path on the route.

Oxleas Wood is one of the few remaining areas of ancient deciduous forest in London and parts date back over 8,000 years. It is part of a larger continuous area of woodland and parkland stretching south from  Shooter’s Hill. It is an SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest).

Riders of all ages are welcome on Southwark Healthy Rides but under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Same for “adults at risk”. Always give way to pedestrians and to other cyclists so all path users feel safe.  If you cannot make a ride, please cancel so that someone else can take the place.  Remember finish times are approximate and it is best not to schedule something immediately after the ride; give yourself an allowance for mechanical or other problems on the ride.  These rides are part of a regular programme of Saturday rides, more information at https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/healthy-rides/.
