Burgess Park to Albert Bridge

Albert Bridge was recently found to be damaged by all the motor traffic and is now bikes and peds only. Yipee!  It will probably get fixed, so let’s ride there while it is traffic free. Meet Burgess Park, Stomping Grounds Café, 10am. 11 mile circuit. Plan to be back at Burgess Park for 12.30.  Start heading west to Myatts Fields, then across Stockwell (think bus garage) to Larkhall Park. Continue using newish cycle tracks on Thessaly Rd to Battersea Power Station and Battersea Park. Good place for a coffee before we cross Albert Bridge and take some photos. Return route will go along embankment to Lupus St, then quietish streets to Horseferry Rd and Lambeth Bridge. Lambeth Bridge has been much improved, new cycle lanes and the ridiculous roundabout on south side replaced by a cross roads. From this point cross to Old Paradise Gardens (think hidden gem) and Damien Hirst’s Newport Street Gallery and into Lambeth Walk (please rehearse the song). Across to Geraldine Mary Harmsworth Park taking care when passing the Imperial War Museum’s BIG gun. Then west bypass of the Elephant, bit of cycleway 17 and back to our starting point in Burgess Park.  Loads to see on this ride and very few tricky bits. A good ride for less experienced riders. Riders of all ages are welcome on Healthy Rides but under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Same for “adults at risk”. Always give way to pedestrians and to other cyclists so all path users feel safe.  If you cannot make a ride, please cancel so that someone else can take the place.
