Bike train shouldersThe Bike Train led by experienced cyclists takes riders to Blackfriars on a route through two parks, up a traffic-calmed backstreet, around the Elephant and Castle by-pass and onto the wonderful new segregated cycle lanes. We set off from Nunhead station at 8am, joining cyclists at Peckham Rye Station at 8.10am (from the bike stands behind McDonalds) and meeting a branch line from Denmark Hill at 8.20am in Burgess Park. That branch line leaves Denmark Hill at 8.10am.

We arrive at the north end of Blackfriars Bridge at 8.45am where riders go their separate ways accompanied (if they wish) by Bike Buddies who have so far taken cyclists on to Hyde Park, Mayfair, Kings Cross and Tower Hill. The majority of the route is off-route through parks or segregated — with three feet of raised pavement between riders and the traffic.

Rides back are arranged individually. Everyone is welcome. Unlike the trains, everyone gets a seat, no one gets a backpack in their face and there are no cancellations or delays. Arrive on time with a feeling of achievement before 9am.
