The winners of the 2018 London Partnership Cycle Challenge (LPCC) are the London Ambulance Service. Keeping cyclists alive comes naturally to them.

Just behind them on points was Team Bromley with Team Tideway in third. TfL Velo-ceraptors won the best team work prize (NB spelling, the snappy little dinos are spelled with an i).

Teams from all over London took part in the multi-part road safely Challenge at Herne Hill Velodrome sponsored by building contractor McGee Group. They included: Phoenix, PowerOn Connections, TfL, Lewisham Cyclists, FM Conway, Tideway,

Met Police, McGee, Bromley Council, Southwark Council, London Ambulance Service, Hartsilver, Source Utilities and Multiplex.

All participants, including Will Norman (Walking and Cycling Commissioner for London) tried out the  Wheels for Wellbeing cycles, trikes and tandems to put themselves in the place of disabled cyclists. The Met brought the latest in virtual reality safety training to support “Exchanging Places” demonstrations for HGV safety.

They raised over £1200 for Wheels for Wellbeing and Road Peace. Extra thanks to the track coaches, Friends of Herne Hill Velodrome who volunteered at the cafe, Catherine Linney from the Met Police Road safety Engineering Unit, Andy Cawdell and Francis Bernstein for Southwark Cyclists, Michael Barratt MBE (TfL) and everyone else who worked so hard to make this event a success.

Re-run next year for all who are committed to building safer roads for London by innovation and by sharing best practice across those who use the roads, those who police and maintain them and London authorities who (in theory) control them.
