Christmas Lights 2025

Time to repeat the Christmas Lights ride. Werner, Jamie and Bruce checked out the orute and made a few small changes. Thirteen at London Bridge for a 5 pm start. Easy run into town, stopping on Waterloo Bridge to view the (mostly) non christmas lights of London.

First stop Covent Garden. People popped inside to see the amazing bells and the disco lighting. Some wanted to stay and listen to the operatic tenor doing his stuff, but dragged them out to try to keep to time. Traffic from now on was laregley stationary! Spent a lot ot time weaving past cars and busses trying not ot lose anyone (we didn’t).

Next stop Seven Dials. Very petty canopy of tiny lights. Did a circuit and moved on through Soho to Carnaby Street.

From Carnaby St moved to Regents St, the firt street to have Christmas Lights in London in 1954. Still has good llights. Continued along Oxfored St then Berkeley Square and down Saville Row with its huge shears symbolising the business in that street. This took us to Old bond Street, a total scrum of pedestrians and a few vehicles. Into Picadilly and a stop to admire Fortnum and Mason with its customary Advent Calendar display.

From Picadilly through to Regents St again, round Picadilly Circus then down to Trafalgar Square. Found the mulled wine as planned. We were at this point running a bit late so half the geoup headed back to London Bridge leaving the revellers to toast another Christmas Lights ride succdessfully completed.
