Five Parks

Another cold January morning. 14 well-wrapped-up riders at Burgess Park Cafe rat 10am eady for a 5 Parks ride with Bruce leaidng. No frost overnight so no ice to worry about. Warmed nicely as we rode up through Camberwell to Ruskin Park. along the lower path and out to Loughborough Junction. Couple of lefts and a quiet ride to Heane Hill Station. Paused at our occasional starting point next to the atation entrance then into Brockwell Park and up the hill to Brockwell Hall. In such good time we coulda allow a 25 min stop for coffee etc. First time the Healthy Rides had patronised the new cafe. It is sp;lendid with some old paintings from the Hall on the walls and very OK coffee. Refreshed we rode down the hill and up Rosendale Rd then turned down Turney Ropad to the Herne Hill Velodrome. Plenty action on the mountan bike course and in the Bikability area, but noone on the track itself. After a short stop continued into Dulwich and thorugh Dulwich Park. Shoprt stop to point out our Dulwich start locaotin for the next ride, then out of Court Lane Gate and up and down to Peckham Rye Park. Counting Burgess, this was Park number 5. Close to the entrance gate off Peckham Rye spotted a hazel with a mass of catkins. Signs of Spring already. Meandered down through the park stopping briefly at The Round Cafe where we also occasionally start rides. Final stretch was through Peckham, again pausing at one of our frequent start locaionts Peckham Square. Then Cnal Path to Burgess Park arriving back pretty on time (12.30).
Thenks to Caroline for back-marking and Jamie for marshalling. Route at https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1pElCotX1P3H-NopWcpNX3by3wPc6YvY&usp=sharing
