Thames Loop from Canada Water

Having seen the forecast the decision was made to postpone Mike’s long Saturday ride.

After one of the coldest nights of the year, 9 riders turned up at Canada Water suitably clothed against the elements. Encountering the occasional ice we made our way to Greenwich Station via the Woodlands and Thames path to be met by Mike and several of the riders who had been booked on his ride. It says something for Southwark riders, not sure what, that a baker’s dozen would want to go for a ride on such a cold morning.

Using the DLR to Mudchute we crossed the river, Mudchute being the favourite because no stairs or lifts are needed. The sun on the north side of the river warmed us up. Quite a scenic ride towards Tower Bridge, though there are still works on the river that involves a detour from the Thames path. Tower Bridge got the vote to return over, arriving back at CW at about 12.15. Rather than stopping for coffee en route we decided to keep moving, most riders having a warming coffee at CW.

With many thanks to Bruce and Jamie for their help. Map of route here: https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/edit?mid=1YputxtQpk_g_BVhieMCuf9HAtWs&usp=sharing
