London Bridge to Parliament Hill.

Not a day for photos. Here is a (very) brief report from Ride Leader Eduardo.

“Ride went well. We had a long coffee break but we managed to arrive (back) at 12.35. The pace was average 8.5 mph. We started with 13 and finished with 8.”

Six Bridges Ride from Canada Water.

Just 5 riders on this damp, grey morning. Headed down Cycleway 4 to Tower Bridge. Easy near side turn from the cyclway and across Tower Bridge. Narrow carriageway means no cycle lane and close traffic. But strict 20mph due to cameras and no side turnings, so not too bad. From the bridge joined Cycleway 3 to Southwark Bridge. Light controlled crossing here and an old unidirectional segregated cycle lane. Cycle lane finishes on the southern approach and no help for the right turn into Sumner St. Past Tate Modern than diverted across Southwark St and round the back to Blackfriars Rd and Cycleway 6. Turned off before Blackfriars Bridge on to Upper Ground to mainatin our alternating bridges pattern. Past the National theatre and the Festval Hall and up the steep narow cycle path to Waterloo Bridge. Lovely wide cycle lane at present on Waterloo bridge. On the north side turned left on to The Strand then immediately left again down Savoy St and on to Cycleway 3 once more. Easy run up to bridge 4, Westmnster Bridge. As usual tourists all over the cycle lane , but have seen it much nore crowded. Off the bridge into Belvedere Rd, on past Festival Hall etc again and left on to Blackfriars Bridge, Bidirectonal segregated lane pretty quiet (can get very busy at weekday peak). Off the bridge via the left-left switchbak on to Cycleway 3 for the third time. C3 took us to The Monument and up on to Bridge number 6, London Bridge. Simpe wand-separated unidirectional lane here. Final lap along C4 to Canada Water. We had made excellent ime with a small group and cool conditions. I am sure all the better for the exrecise. Not really a mornng for potograohs, but Jean posted the one above and commented “Thanks Bruce for the Bridges Ride. Great to see how almost all the route can be on cycleways.”
