Ride 2. Sunday June 2nd
Round the Parks
Sunny day. Perfect for getting amogst the wild flowers in Elam Street Open Sapce
A Sunday ride for a change. Idea was to attract some of the riders from Freecycle who had been on the feeder ride the previous Sunday. So kept the time (10am) and start location (The Round Cafe, Peckham Rye Park) the same. In the end just 2 new cyclists (Ambra and daughter Miah) turned up. Plus several regulars we were a group of 7. Relaxing ride in only light traffic when not in parks. Lots of new growth in the parks. Amazing yellow flowers covering the roundabout at Myatts Fields. The area in the centre of Elam St Open Space, replanted 2 years ago, was now blooming spectacularly (see photo). The paddling pool in Ruskin Park was awash with children and sunshine. After the descent of Greendale several riders departed to head home. Four of us continued with just John and Ngel making it all the way back to Peckham Rye Park. Enjoyable ride in excellent weather. Thanks to John for back marking. Route at http://tiny.cc/qgk7yz.
