1. Greewich to Cody Dock
  2. Peckham to Dawsons Heights and Brookmill Park

Greenwich to Cody Dock

16 riders set out from Cutty Sark along the Thames path into a cold easterly wind. Made good time and spotted a ferry docking at Woolwich. Speeded up and caught it, so no delay waiting for a crossing. Lots of photos on the crossing then over the Redgrave Bridge to the north side of Albert Dock. Saw 2 planes land and one take off from City airport. Through Beckton Park to the Greenway. Flew along this with the wind behind us. Up spinnakers, suggested Mick. Joined the Lee towpath at 3 Mills, then downstream to Cody Dock. What a mess that is in! They have clearly succeeded in getting some funding and are in the middle of completely remodelling the place. Fortunately a temporary cafe has kept going so we could get refreshment. Amanda tells me that our visits have inspired the lady who runs the cafe to take up cycling! As usual extracting the group from their break took a while so we were up against the clock. Took a short cut on the Isle of Dogs, cutting out the Canary Wharf section. The tunnel lifts were working at Island Gardens and at the Greenwich end so we could cross easily, ending up back at Cutty Sark at 1.45pm.

Many thanks to Amanda for leading the usual band of happy, healthy cyclists.

Peckham to Dawsons Heights and Brookmill Park

Report from Ride Leader Simon. “A band of 13 riders, including four newbies, set off from Peckham in bright sunshine fir a tour of some of the best viewpoints in South London. A cold wind didn’t spoil the fantastic views from Dawson’s Heights (the best), Blythe Hill Fields, and Telegraph Hill Park. Coffee was enjoyed in Ladywell and all 13 finished the ride happy, healthy and safe.” Route on Google maps (https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/edit?mid=1gKYHYRm4sWyt4eKez8srplWZX4NxfAjQ&usp=sharing)
