Rotherhithe has a remarkable history. This ride takes you on a tour of interesting sites. And because of the excellent planning from the late 1980s there are lots of pedestrian/cycle paths and this ride is nearly completely off-road. A great ride for someone relatively new to cycling. Start/finish point will be Deal Porter Square, opposite Canada Water Station, SE16 7AR. Start time 10am and finish 12 noon. Route is: Southwark Park, King Stairs Gardens, then Thames path all the way to Deptford Historic Riverside. Along this stretch will pass the departure point of the Mayflower, the first underwater tunnel anywhere (by Brunel) and the Surrey Docks Farm. From Deptford will head back via the Surrey Canal Linear Park to South Dock, Greenland Dock and Russia Woodland. Final stop at Stave Hill to admire the view then loop past surrey Water and along the canal to Canada Water. All this in 10 miles and as a final bonus – this route is entirely without hills!
