We’ve invited speakers representing British Land to come and talk to us about what’s going on at Canada Water. British Land has spent five years assembling the Canada Water site.
It includes Surrey Quays Shopping Centre and Harmsworth Quays, the former Daily Mail General Trust printing works. Last piece in the jigsaw was its acquisition of Surrey Quays Leisure Park in March this year. The combined sites have potential for around 5.5 million sq ft of office, retail, residential, leisure, educational and community space. The size of the site makes the re-developer a big player in Southwark and staff have acknowledged “concerns” about CS4. They will be on first at 6.30pm.
The meeting is at our not-so-new venue at 41 Grosvenor Park SE5 0NH (see picture below). It’s much more respectable than it looks. Coming from Burgess Park, cross Camberwell New Road and proceed proceed in an easterly direction along Urlwin Street, under the railway bridges, left at the end and straight on into the cul-de-sac in front of you. Very respectable. Look carefully, no 41 is slightly less respectable and belongs to the tenants association. That’s the place. No bike parking. Try the railings.
The alternative approach is via Addington Square, across to Bethwin Street, left into Grosvenor Terrace, immediately right into Grosvenor Park
Look for the cul-de-sac on your right at the end.
Last time I said that, sadly, there was no pub in the area. There is some dispute about this but I have to say I haven’t noticed anything. Bring pub radar.  If you get lost phone 07842 640 207 and I will walk out and wave my arms around.
