This is Andy, the brain behind all this free bike maintenance. Cyclists cycle 120 miles to Dunwich on the east coast in the light of the full moon and collapse on Dunwich Beach as the sun rises. Those who don’t feel like cycling the 120 miles back, climb on a coach and wake up in Surrey Quays. Andy organises those coaches and the profit funds Dr Bike.

Andy with Bruno and Mike makes up the three volunteers who support ace pro-mechanic Charlie (for pic see July 5th). Together they fix brakes, index gears, pump up tyres and knowledgeably discuss bottom brackets. They often but not always carry small parts so it’s best to bring them yourself if you know or suspect that you need them.

Everything is free. You don’t need to live in Southwark or be a member of anything at all. There isn’t a catch that I’ve come across. People sometimes ask why we’re doing this and TBH I’m not entirely sure but we have a good time and everyone seems pleased with the results.

You can find us in Peckham Square between Peckham Pulse and Peckham Library. Assuming that you are going south we will be just before you get to Peckham Arch (which  looks like this):
