The good doctor and his able assistants are back again, fixing bikes, mending tyres, adjusting brakes, indexing gears (is that right? Ed) and handing out wise advice.
Three superlative mechanics, gossip, maps, info and assorted leaflets will be under Peckham Arch from 5.30-7.30pm. Everything they provide is free. Everyone is cheerful. All welcome.
Our review found that just 4 collisions took place at bus-stops between cyclists and pedestrians from 2020-22 - none on the crossing.
For context, over 11,400 pedestrians and 15,000 cyclists were injured in collisions with motor vehicles in the same period.
I have no problems with a law on death by dangerous cycling – everyone must obey the rules of the road.
But in 2022, 1760+ people were killed on UK roads – 3 involved someone being hit by a bike.
What’s the gov plan for stopping 5 people being killed a day by motor vehicles?
Support for active travel ... more trees / green space; more accessible pavements; less traffic; better lighting; traffic calming; segregated cycling; cycle hangars and pedestrian crossings.
