Cutty Sark to Hackney Marshes via the Shuttle

This ride is postponed to 23rd August due to Silverlink Tunnel being closed for the T100 Triathlon.

NOTE. you must register for the rides on Eventbrite so we can limit numbers, link: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/cutty-sark-to-hackney-marshes-via-the-cycle-shuttle-tickets-1538732673849?aff=oddtdtcreator

9.30 start (note early time) from Cutty Sark, next to the tunnel entrance. Gloria leading a circular route that is unusual in 2 ways. First we will use the Shuttle Bus through the Silvertown Tunnel. This has capacity for 7 folding bikes and 8 non folders. In order to have the possibility to get on one bus will restrict number. We will have 7 tickets for standard bikes and another 7 for folders. Please make sure you register with the appropriate ticket. If there is a lot of interest we will increase numbers and if necessary use 2 buses. Important that if you find the ride full you go on the Wait List so we know the demand. The second unusual feature of this ride is to end NOT at the start. We will stop the ride a little before Greenwich at Canada Water. Anyone needing to get to Greenwich can use well signed Cycleway 4.
Route. Thames path to the O2 for the Shuttle. Cross the river then use a street route via Plaistow to West Ham Park. Next to Stratford and on to the Grenway for a short stretch to join the Lea Navigation path not far from the London Stadium. Follow the path for ¾ mile to Hackney Marshes. Bit of an explore then return to Lea Navigation Path. Back track to White Post Lane and cross Navigation and then take the bridge over the A12 to reach Victoria Park. Exit Victoria Park to Grove Rd, then Mile End, Cycleway 2 (Whitechapel Rd), Cannon Street Lane, Cable St (Cycleway 3), Tower Bridge and Cycleway 4 to Canada Water. Aim is to be back by 1.30.
General Information
Riders of all ages are welcome on Southwark Healthy Rides but under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Same for “adults at risk”. Always give way to pedestrians and to other cyclists so all path users feel safe. If you cannot make a ride, please cancel so that someone else can take the place. Remember finish times are approximate and it is best not to schedule something immediately after the ride; give yourself an allowance for mechanical or other problems on the ride.
