Show the Met the community cares about speeding. I’m sure we all do. Community Speedwatch is a collaboration between the community (us) and the police (PCSO Kevin Phillips and friends). The community volunteer — in this case Southwark Cyclist Bob Eva — holds the speed gun and the Met writes down the numbers and sends them off to TfL who writes nasty letters to the drivers.
If you get caught three times you have to take an IQ test (no that’s a joke) you get a police fine. So the punishments on offer are not great but it seems to terrify drivers, reduces their sense of impunity and provides evidence of widespread speeding which it’s useful for the police to see. They will be at the junction of Harper Road and Brockham St. To volunteer contact email@example.com. He’s very nice (see pic above).
