Fed up with speeding? You can do something about it. Volunteer for Community Speedwatch. You can suggest times, dates and locations. The community volunteer holds the speedgun and a PCSO writes down the numbers and makes of offending vehicles. Then he sends the details to TfL who sends owners cross letters.
If you think that that doesn’t sound tough enough then the Met agrees. Since seeing proof of speeding provided by the Community Speedwatch teams, the Met has gone into the same line of business with a team of traffic policement equipped with legal-evidence level speedguns. Real tickets have been issued.
