Ride 1. Battersea Park

6 of us braved the wet and windy weather and headed off down C14 to Dockhead and then C4 to London Bridge. We crossed the bridge and then dropped down onto C3 and made our way to Parliament Square. Through the Square and then back roads through Pimlico to get to Chelsea Bridge. We decided to head through the park straight to Tealbys café at Battersea Dogs and Cats Home and not do a circuit of the Park in view of the rain.

We enjoyed a nice warm and cosy café stop before heading back south side of the river using the reopened riverside path to Lambeth Bridge. We then went towards Waterloo, saying farewell to Nigel and Laura at Blackfriars. We headed down the Cycleway turning off to connect with C14 to get back by Shad Thames where [we ended the ride] Shelagh and Louise headed back to Canada Water. Anisa  (? on a Santander bike) and I headed off to London Bridge to make our ways home.

Ride 2. Belmarsh Prison

Because only 5 people signed up we decided late on Friday to cancel. Riders were invited to join the Battersea Ride. Mike K who was to lead the ride, cycled with a friend to Cutty Sark to be there at 10am in case anyone turned up and womdered where we all were. At this point wo other riders turned up on spec, not having seen the cancellation (only registered riders get the cancel e-mails). Weather was OK, occasional light rain th eonly issue. So the 4 of them did the ride to Belmarsh as planned . Kind of a happy ending – but at least one registered rider complained crossly on WhatsApp as they had missed a ride they were looking forward to doing. We will have to repeat it in 2026.
