Ride 1. 02 from Canada Water
Ride 2. Wanstead Park
02 from Canada Water
Mild, overcast day, perfect for cycling and 8 riders off to enjoy a downstream ride along the Thames. Bruce led from Canada Water at 10.05 and took the Cycleway 14 route to the Thames at South Dock. Next Thames Path to Greenwich where Analia joined us. Very busy at Greenwich so took care not to scare/annoy any walkers. At the O2 stopped for a coffee then a bit more peninsula to the Eco Park. Headed back across the peninsula using the nice new Warman Walk next to Southern PArk and the cycle/pedestrian bridge over the A102, Rejoined outward route briefly at Enderby’s Wharf, then behind the power station and through the Royal College, past Cutty Sark (brief stop for group photos) and on to Cycleway 4 at Norway St, near Waitrose. C4 gave us a quick route back to Rotherhithe. To avoid the building work aound the shopping centre opted to leave C4 at Oxestalls Rd, then the Linear Park, South Dock, Greenland Dock and Surrey Quays Rd back to Deal Porter Square. Long traffic queue along Redriff Rd and Surrey Quays Rd probably caused by the new junctions on the one-way system to accomodate C4.
A relaxing ride, always lots to see, back about 12.35. Mike (thanks for back-stopping) checked his route mapper and declared 19km ridden, riding for 2h12min, max elevation 9m (i.e. dead flat!). Wanstead Park
Comment on WhatsApp (TheVulnerables) from Shelagh: “Great ride with Amanda. Wanstead Park is so beautiful can’t believe never been before. Lovely cafe as well with much cheaper prices than we are used to.”
