Canada Water to Battersea Park. The 6 riders decided to amend the route in Prince Philip’s tribute/respects. Swung past Buck house before riding on to Battersea Park. Then timed return to get to City Hall in time to see the midday 41 gun Salute at the Tower. Ended the ride there as everyone wanted to make their own way home. An impressive ride, travelling a bit faster than usual. Thanks to Philippa for leading. Route from last time – but note there are a few changes this year that are not shown: https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/edit?mid=12NWN9EgQmiulaUGB5CgXLoIIGAE&usp=sharing

Round the Parks. 6 riders at Burgess Park Cafe for a 10 mile ride round the parks and open spaces of Southwark and Lambeth. After crossing Burgess Park headed to Myatts Fields and from there, via Elam Street Open Space to Ruskin Park. Next down Greendale to Dulwich. Much discussion of some of the new changes to reduce traffic in Dulwich Village. Concern that some of these changes were altering the views of some previously pro-cycling people into anti-cyclists. Ride round Dulwich Park then up and over to Peckham Rye Park. Shed riders heading for home as we descended to Peckham. Then via Rye Lane and Canal Path back to Burgess Park. All the parks and open spaces were newly green and full of activity. Delightful on a dull day. And the forecast rain never materialised. Leader Bruce.
