Abbey Mills Pumping Station

As part of the ICE’s Explore Engineering Weekend, we have partnered with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) to showcase the legacy of civil engineering greats such as Brunel, Telford and Bazalgette.  The tour with will start and finish at the Southwark Gateway Needle on the south side of London Bridge and head up the Cycle Superhighway directly to Abbey Mills Pumping station (Bazalgette). The tour will then return via the Rivers Lea and Thames, passing by:Bow Locks, Limehouse Basin, Wapping Hydraulic Power Station, Wapping Overground station (Brunel’s Thames Tunnel) and St Katherines Dock (designed by Thomas Telford).  It’s free and everyone is welcome. The whole thing will probably take 2-3 hours, so ending 12-1pm. The likely cycle route can be viewed here .
