The AGM took place on Nov 9th, in person at The Trunk, a new venue near the Elephant and Castle. Thirteen people attended plus Katy Rodda from LCC. Notes on proceedings at the AGM are here.
Reports were received about our Climate Safe Streets activity, about the Healthy Rides and about the Cycle Buddies programme. The Treasurer produced some draft accounts and assured us we had a healthy balance in the bank. Our sound financial position is largely due to Southwark and Lewisham Cyclists providing return transport for 500 riders and bikes on the Dunwich Dynamo ride.
The following were elected:
- Coordinator – Simon Saville
- Treasurer – Hugh Bolton
- Secretary (Meetings) – Daniel Schuldes
The following were appointed to the Committee
- Tom Harrison – Council Liaison Officer
- Bruce Lynn – Health Rides
- Gareth Evans– Dunwich Dynamo
- Amy Aeron-Thomas – Community Roadwatch
- Mike Paterson – Newsletter
Katy Rodda, Network Coordinator, London Cycling Campaign, gave a short presentation on what was happening at LCC level. Key workstreams include interacting with the Mayor’s office on consultation responses and holding the Mayor to the Transport Strategy and to Vision Zero (road safety). There are active campaigns on dangerous junctions and on safer lorries. And of course much time was devoted to working with borough groups on local issues.
The meeting ended with informal discussion lubricated by drinks and nibbles. By 10 pm we had pretty much aired all the current concerns and made some provisional plans for next year. An idea is to alternate monthly meetings between in person and Zoom. And to hold the in person meetngs at different venues across the borough. Note the next monthly meeting where (as usual) everyone is invited is by Zoom on Dec 14th. Watch the events Calendar here for details near the date.
