Ride 1. Thames Loop Ride from Canada Water

Report from Ride Leader Simon K.
Thirteen of us left Canada Water on a very pleasant morning. Through Russia Dock Woodlands, along the river to Greenwich where we picked up another four riders. Luckily the DLR was relatively empty, partly helped perhaps because at the moment the train isn’t stopping at Cutty Sark Gardens station. Prior to the off there had been a certain amount of discussion as to whether bikes were allowed on the DLR, if so, were there any restrictions. In the event, the Governor of Belmarsh didn’t have to make room for 17 cyclists. I suspect there is confusion amongst TFL staff, with rules changing with the phases of the moon.
Using our well worn, but no less pleasant for that, route along the river, with only small amounts of road, to Shadwell Basin, where canoes were out in force, and on to the Hermitage Riverside Memorial Gardens where we paid our respects to those from the East End who lost their lives in WW2. Here, I always take a vote as to whether to cross the river using Tower Bridge or London Bridge. On this occasion, with no wind to blow us off course, Tower Bridge got the vote. At our coffee stop in Dockhead most riders left, leaving four of us to continue on using the C14 to Canada Water arriving at 12.30.
With huge thanks to all my riders for being my eyes and ears, especially Nicolas, and to Eva for doing a first class job as backmarker.
Ride 2. Awayday Ride from Whitstable to Ramsgate

Brief report from Ride Leader Jamie on WhatsApp: 19 riders and Remy the Dog completed the Viking Trail from Whitstable to Ramsgate. Great weather until the final 5 minutes when the Heavens opened. Some of us managed a 30 minute swim before lunch arrived. Huge thanks to our diligent and hard working Marshals David & Geraldine. Thanks to everyone who attended making it a successful outing.
