September is a wonderful month to get out on the bike with the scorching summer temperatures subsiding and the beautiful autumn colours starting to appear. Why not create a ride and help us reach our 2018 target.

Featured Ride - The Oldest House in the City |
For this month's Featured Ride we are off to the big smoke for one of Southwark Cyclists' Healthy Rides. These rides are a part of the London Cycling campaign and are all about building confidence in new or hesitant cyclists. |
Led by Harry Clark, this one caught our eye as it managed to get a fabulous 32 people out on their bikes for a visit to London's Oldest House, 500+ year old '41 Cloth Fair' in Farringdon. It is part of a series of very successful rides between both Southwark and the newly formed Bexley Cyclists that are a good example of how organisations and campaigns can make great use of Ride Social as a free platform for promoting their rides. |
Tell us about how your organisation makes use of Ride Social or about an interesting ride you have run by emailing ridesocial@britishcycling.org.uk or tag us on social media #ridesocial. |

Making the most of ... Get Outside Day |
Sunday 30th September is National GetOutside Day which we think is a great excuse to get some rides on (as if you needed an excuse really!). Organised by the Ordnance Survey, the day is a celebration of all things outdoors from hiking to biking and is supported by some big names like Ben Fogle, Sean Conway and our very own Paralympian handcyclist Mel Nicholls.
Register online to get a welcome pack full of ideas and inspiration and a month's free subscription to OS Maps which is a fab tool for route planning for your rides.
Don't forget to share your GetOutside adventures on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook and give a shout out to @LetsRideUK and #RideSocial and of course #GetOutside. |
Become a Ride Leader this autumn |
There are still some spaces left on our Ride Leadership Award Level 1 and Level 1 and 2 combined course this autumn. You can still snap up places in Bangor, Bradford, Carlisle, Coventry, Liverpool and Nottingham to name just a few. |
The courses utilise a blended learning approach including online learning, classroom activities and practical riding, covering group management on roads and ride etiquette, route planning and managing risks and emergencies. |
Getting Social – Relive app |
This is a great little app to let you re-live your rides when you're back home with your feet up and show off to your adoring social media fans what a great ride you've had! |
It combines photos you snap along the way with Strava data to create a cool little video memory of your ride. |
|
|
Don't forget to tag us in your posts #ridesocial to be featured in next month's newsletter. |
