SUMMARY:The Full Wandle Healthy Ride
DESCRIPTION:The Full Wandle  \nNOTE. Please register for rides on Eventbrite so we can limit numbers\, link . < https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/the-full-wandle-trail-cycle-ride-tickets-1671881375199?aff=oddtdtcreator > \nThis ride is a nice challenge. Rride the entire Wandle Trail on a Saturday morning starting from London Bridge (Southwark Needle\, south east side of London Bridge). In fact we are going to cheat a bit by ending the ride at East Croydon Station. So bring your Travel Pass or equivalent to get home by train.  This ride is Amanda’s idea and she will be leading. Total ride distance is 19 miles and we are planning to finish by 2pm following a 9am start. This should allow time for looking around at some of the interesting parts of the Trail and having a coffee break. Parts of the trail are not surfaced and can be quite uneven\, so difficult on narrow wheels with tyres inflated hard. \nRoute outline. From London Bridge take Cycleway 10 to Waterloo.  Over Westminster Bridge and along the cycle lane on the embankment to and over Chelsea Bridge and into Battersea Park. Thames Path to the start of the trail where the River Wandle meets the Thames.  Nice stretches include Abbey Water Mill\, Morden Hall Park\, Carshalton Ponds and Beddington Park. \nRiders of all ages are welcome on Healthy Rides but under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Same for “adults at risk”. Always give way to pedestrians and to other cyclists so all path users feel safe.  If you cannot make a ride\, please cancel so that someone else can take the place. Around 300 human-powered craft take part in this race every year\, craft of all shapes and sizes heading up with the tide from Millwall Slip to Ham\, a bit from Richmond. We will start from Canada Water (next to Canada Water Library\, opposite Canada Water Station) at 10am with Cap’n Jamie in charge. Ride first to a good point near South Dock to watch the first boats start. Then ride upstream stopping at several points. We hope to reach Richmond\, near the finish\, by 2pm. Please note this is a very approximate finish time. Do not come on this ride if you need to be finished promptly. We will guide riders to Richmond Station to get transport back.\nIt may well be a bit chaotic but will be fun. Route is 21 miles\, so be prepared. Check and lube your bike\, bring water\, snacks\, suitable clothing\, spare inner tube etc. At present the forecast is dry. So “Hoo-ray and up she rises” off we go!\nThese rides are part of a regular programme of Saturday rides organised by Southwark Cyclists\, more information at https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/healthy-rides/.
