SUMMARY:Hidden secrets: Peckham to London Bridge Loop
DESCRIPTION:Hidden secrets: Peckham to London Bridge Loop \nNB Please register on Eventbrite so we can limit numbers\, link:  https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/hidden-secrets-peckham-to-london-bridge-loop-ride-tickets-728824592977  \n10am start from Peckham Square (by Peckham Library and Peckham Pulse Leisure Centre\, SE15 5RY). Simon S leading. The route takes in lots of hidden gems\, including the Skip House\, Iliffe Yard artisan workshops\, Royal Surrey Zoological Gardens (Pasley Park)\, a Tangerine Tree\, some WWII stretchers and Del Boy’s Reliant Robin. About 12 miles\, very flat\, taking 2.5 hours – which gives us time for a coffee stop at the Little Cat Café in Myatt’s Field Park.  Will as usual ride as much as possible on quiet streets and paths. We last did this ride in Nov 2021 with the emphasis on flood risk. The sea levels predicted if CO2 targets are missed would mean most of the route would be under water.  Pause for thought…  Route on Google Maps: https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/edit?mid=1bwtJBZIypO6HXpAGPUrD9QqKhm2xlOw&usp=sharing \nGPX file of route:  Hidden_Peckham to London Bridge loop

SUMMARY:Burgess Park to Wandsworth and Putney Healthy Ride
DESCRIPTION:Burgess Park to Wandsworth and Putney\nNB Please register on Eventbrite so we can limit numbers\, link:  https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/burgess-park-to-wandsworth-and-putney-cycle-ride-tickets-728835535707  \nStart/Finish Burgess Park (Fuorvito Cafe\, Chumleigh Gardens\, Off Albany Rd. SE5 0RJ). Start 10am\, finish 1.30pm. Outward route will go via Vauxhall and Battersea Power Station to Battersea Park. Then across the park and on to the nice paths along the Battersea and Wandsworth riverside\, eventually reaching Wandsworth Park. Coffee break in Wandsworth Park during return\, but sadly no time for a round on the well-maintained Crazy Golf Course. If time\, for those who wish to\, will lead a further 1km to have a look at the rowers on the Putney Embankment. Return route has great contrasts. Back along the river to the bridge over Bell Lane Creek\, the mouth of the River Wandle. Then head south into Wandsworth town centre along shared use pavement and across cycle crossings to avoid the traffic on the 1-way system. Next King George’s Park with a nice path by the Wandle. At the south end of the park\, turn left and start heading home via Wandsworth and Clapham Commons. 28km\, a lot of park and riverside is traffic free. Bruce leading. SUMMARY:Tour de Rotherhithe Healthy Ride
DESCRIPTION:Tour de Rotherhithe Healthy Ride\nNB Please register on Eventbrite so we can limit numbers\, link: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/tour-de-rotherhithe-ride-tickets-732213729977\n \nRotherhithe has a remarkable history. This 2 hour ride takes you on a tour.  Due to of the excellent planning from the late 1980s there are lots of pedestrian/cycle paths and this ride is nearly completely off-road. A great ride for someone relatively new to cycling.  Start/finish point will be Deal Porter Square\, opposite Canada Water Station\, SE16 7AR. Start time 10am and finish 12 noon. Route is: Southwark Park\, King Stairs Gardens\, then Thames path all the way to Deptford Historic Riverside. Along this stretch will pass the departure point of the Mayflower\, the first underwater tunnel anywhere (by Brunel) and the Surrey Docks Farm. From Deptford will head back via the Surrey Canal Linear Park to South Dock\, Greenland Dock and Russia Woodland. Final stop at Stave Hill to admire the view then loop past Surrey Water and along the canal to Canada Water. All this in 10 miles and as a final bonus – this route is entirely without hills! No coffee break as this is a short ride\, but time for a coffee at the end. Bruce leading.  Annotated route map at https://goo.gl/5pFd9b.  Last ridden April 2022\, report here. \nGPX route file: fqmdhodyr_Tour-de-Rotherhithe-Plus (2019_06_27 21_53_24 UTC)

This is a really fun outdoor display held every October. You will find an audio/video guide here.   We’ll allow a half hour to look around the 21 pieces and take a coffee break nearby. If you want longer looking at the sculptures – then bring your own drink/snack. \nReturning across Hyde Park then Exhibition Road and South Kensington down to the river and across to Battersea from where we will ride through Clapham Common and Brockwell park back to Dulwich Park. The ride will be about 20 miles and allowing extra time for the exhibition\, we will aim to be back in Dulwich by 2pm. Report of last year’s very popular Frieze ride here. \nIf you cannot make a ride\, please cancel so that someone else can take the place. SUMMARY:Peckham to Lewisham and the Quaggy River Healthy Ride
DESCRIPTION:Peckham to Lewisham and the Quaggy River    \nNB Please register on Eventbrite so we can limit numbers\, link:  https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/peckham-to-lewisham-and-the-quaggy-river-ride-tickets-743756695297 \nEasy-paced 2.5 hour ride\, mostly quiet roads with a few path sections through parks. Start/finish Peckham Square (next to Peckham Library and Peckham Pulse Leisure Centre\, SE15 5RY).\nThe Quaggy meets the Ravensbourne close to Lewisham station where much new development is taking place. The opportunity has been taken to highlight this built-in water feature as “Confluence Park”. The ride will follow the Quaggy\, mostly hidden behind buildings in a sad concrete culvert. At Manor Park the river emerges\, but is still hidden away to start with\, although at the south end of the park you can get close on natural banks. Then to Manor House Gardens where the Quaggy is kept in a channel\, behind railings. Lots of information about the Quaggy on the web site of QWAG (Quaggy Waterways Action Group\, https://qwag.org.uk/river-quaggy/) whose “goal is to demonstrate that rivers can be major assets to an urban environment – bringing natural beauty\, educational facilities and wildlife into urban lives.”\nRoute is at https://goo.gl/svHy65. Outward leg will use the northern\, less hilly route via Bridgehouse Meadows and Fordham Park to Brookmill Park. Return has a few short climbs that dan be walked. Route goes past the Lewisham Leisure Centre\, Brockley Station (possible coffee stop if time) and Nunhead. 16.5km\, just over 10 miles. Leader Bruce. \nDownload GPX file:  Peckham-to-LewishamQuaggy-River2020
