Maybe appropriately, last time we tried this ride there was very heavy rain and this vastly reduced numbers. Hoping for less precipitation we are trying again. Start/finish in Peckham Square, next to Peckham Library and Peckham Pulse Leisure Centre. 10am start. Simon S. in his role as Climate Safe Streets champion for Southwark Cyclists has planned this ride to highlight the risk of flooding in London, something that will increase with global warming. Route will go between the river and the projected 2030 flood line. Route passes many points of interest including Stompie the tank, Del boy’s Reliant Robin, some WWII stretchers, Iliffe Yard artisan workshops and Royal Surrey Zoological Gardens (Pasley Park). Will be about 10miles, 2.5 hours which gives us time for a coffee stop at the Little Cat Café in Myatt’s Field Park. Will as usual ride as much as possible on quiet streets and paths.
We will keep everyone as safe as possible by observing all the Covid Regulations. Even with the relaxation of the rules it is still a good idea to routinely keep a 2m social distance, never less than 1m. Particularly important to maintain social distancing from other users on shared paths. Consider bringing a face mask, can be useful. Obviously please do not turn up to this event if you are displaying symptoms of Covid-19.
