Mike K.\, ever keen to oblige\, has now checked out a route and will lead a ride there. Start 10am at Cutty Sark Gardens\, next to the foot tunnel entrance. Follow the Thames Path passing Greenwich University\, the O2 and the Thames Barrier.  Turn off at Galleons Reach and continue to the top of the Tor.  After enjoying the view continue the ride to Belmarsh. For the return will take the Thames path to Woolwich Arsenal for our coffee break. Then proceed along the Thames Path returning to the Cutty Sark at approximately 1pm. \nRiders of all ages are welcome on Healthy Rides but under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult. This ride leaves from the main entrance to Herne Hill Station (on the Railton Road side\, What 3 Words:  ///lists.spoken.couches). Route: Railton Road LTN / through Brixton / C5 to Victoria / coffee stop at the Onion Garden. Return via Chelsea Bridge\, past Battersea Power Station\, round the back of Brixton and through Brockwell Park. 19 km (12 miles). Mainly flat using cycleways and backstreets\, crossing a few busier roads. Head out via Cycleway 14 to Jamaica Rd passing the rapidly disappearing Supersewer Site. Next a backstreets route to Cycleway 10 at Willow Walk. This route is scheduled for a significant upgrade including a new cycle crossing of Grange Road. From Willow Walk quiet streets and the Canal Path to Peckham square then Rye Lane to Peckham Rye Park. Cycle the length of the park stopping at the River Peck and then at The Round Café for a break. Homeward ride to Queen’s Rd Station via the tiny Kirkwood Nature Reserve. Continue through Brimmington park and across to Ilderton Road. Work has started here on a cycle crossing of the Old Kent Road. A new cycleway is planned to continue to Surrey Quays and we will follow the route to Southwark Park before getting back to Canada Water. Aim to finish about 12.30. SUMMARY:Acton to London Bridge - Train-Assisted Healthy Ride
DESCRIPTION:Acton to London Bridge\nNOTE. Please register for rides on Eventbrite so we can limit numbers\, link:  https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/acton-to-london-bridge-cycle-ride-tickets-1288097487259 \nThis ride takes the Elizabeth Line outbound to Acton and then we cycle the 11 miles back to London Bridge. Using the train means we can\, within a Saturday morning\, explore new areas of west London. Start London Bridge 9.30am (note early start) next to the Southwark Needle (South side of Bridge\, close to London Bridge Staton). Ride to Farringdon Station. Step free access to Elizabeth Line\, fare £3. Train to Acton Mainline Station (22 min) then roads to Wormwood Scrubs (C49). Join C27 and ride past Wormwood Scrubs Prison.  If grassy paths are dry enough venture a little way on to the Scrubs then rejoin C27. At Grenfell Tower take a look at the Memorial Wall then continue on C27 to Portobello Rd. Probably impossible to cycle on Portobello Road itself so have a break to allow riders to walk part of the market. Continue on C27 to Princes Square then ride on south to the Bayswater Rd and Kensington Gardens. Take the lovely\, continuous paths across Kensington Gardens and Heyde Park. Then Cycleway 3 down Constitution Hill to Buckingham Palace and on to Big Ben. Join the Embankment Cycleway (still C3) which takes us all the way to London Bridge.  Plan to finish at 1.30 pm. Note riders can join the ride at Acton Mainline Station (Junction Horn Lane and Friary Road). Be there by 10.10am. Bruce Leading. SUMMARY:Waterloo to Twickenham River Ride
DESCRIPTION:Waterloo to Twickenham River Ride \nNOTE. Please register for rides on Eventbrite so we can limit numbers\, link:  https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/waterloo-to-twickenham-river-ride-tickets-1296297804629 \nJamie is leading this relaxed ride that involves some enjoyable cycling in stages for about 17 miles in all. 80% of the route is on quieter roads and some unsurfaced river paths. This route is predominantly flat and thus suitable for all types of bicycles and regular rider abilities. \nCoordinating Instructions and Timings\nRiders will meet at 09.30am (note slightlyearlier start time) on Saturday 29th March at the bottom of the steps outside and under the Waterloo Station Victory Arch Clock that is 50 yards up on the right from where York Road meets Mepham Street and Cab Road just before the road bridge. A short Riders safety briefing will be given at 09.30am. \nRoute \nFrom Waterloo Station the ride will head for the river and on through Battersea Park and the Power Stn then cross Putney Bridge. We will then head to Chiswick Eyot and Richmond where we will cross Richmond bridge on our way past Eel Pie Island. The ride will finish at Twickenham Stn where we will catch a train back to Waterloo with an approx ETA of 2.30pm. A perfect fit for a ride. Where to watch it – next to the Greenwich Observatory of course!  Ride will start 10am in Peckham Square and head directly to Greenwich Park on a flat route then up the hill to the Observatory. Should be there for the maximum with 40% of the sun obscured. Will stop and watch for a while then head back to Peckham for 12\,30-1pm. Bruce Leading.
