SUMMARY:Art Deco Architecture Ride
DESCRIPTION:NOTE. You must register on Eventbrite so we can limit numbers\, link:  https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/cycle-ride-londons-art-deco-architecture-tickets-304656595077 \nStart/finish Southwark Needle\, SE side of London Bridge\, near LB Station. Start time 10am\, approx. finish 12.30. Popular in the 1920s and 1930s\, the Art Deco style had a major influence on design\, most noticeably now in the buildings along our streets. As well as  landmarks such as the University of London Senate House and the Savoy Hotel\, we will also ride past some of the less-well known buildings that we tend to pass without a glance (e.g. Adelaide House\, north side of London Bridge).  Eva leading\, and probably also telling us a bit about some of the buildings.  Unavoidably a route that includes some busy streets. 18km (11 miles). Probable route at https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/edit?mid=1scrh46lqRcpTzmY7nUFet46RjBN7HqPA&usp=sharing

SUMMARY:Healthy Ride through Lambeth’s Small Open Spaces
DESCRIPTION:NOTE. You must register on Eventbrite so we can limit numbers\, link:  https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/cycle-ride-through-lambeths-small-open-spaces-tickets-310803480577 \nSmall parks often have a charm of their own. And we are lucky to have lots of them in London. Most have some individual feature of interest. Some have remarkable activities embedded. This flat\, 13 mile route\, includes 12 small parks and also visits 3 larger parks\, 2 of which are close to\, but not in\, Lambeth. A mixture of paths\, quiet streets and some short stretches of busy street. \nRide will start (10am) and finish (1pm) at Waterloo Station. Meet at 10am at the bottom of the steps outside and under the Waterloo Station Victory Arch that is 50 yards up on the right from where York Road meets Cab Rd/Mepham St.  First visit some small parks close to the river\, Archbishop’s Park\, Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens\, Vauxhall Park. Then divert via Nine Elms Station to the Sky Pool and the U.S. Embassy and on through the Power Station developments to Battersea Park.  Across Stockwell via Larkhall Park and on to Wyck Gardens\, Brixton\, home of the Ebony Horse Club\, a Community Riding Centre. Heading back traverse Elam Open space\, Myatts Fields\, Eythorne Park and Kennington Park.  Small diversion to the Beefeater Gin Distillery (sadly no time for a tour) and the Cinema Museum and its neighbour the house in a water tower.  Briefly into Southwark for Geraldine Mary Harmsworth Park\, home of the Imperial War Museum\, and finally to Waterloo Millenium Green. Coffee break\, probably in Myatts Fields. Probable route showing all the parks at https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/edit?mid=1R6fTBvDP_CWqVtzEhbo-kHtOydWA1ne2&usp=sharing

SUMMARY:Climate Safe Streets Cycle Ride for the Election
DESCRIPTION:Local boroughs decide the layout of almost all roads in London. Councillors talk the talk about active transport\, but do they walk the walk (or cycle the cycle)? \nElections are a time to pressure our local politicians to TAKE ACTION. To improve cycling facilities MUCH MORE so that our roads are safer\, our planet less polluted – and we are all healthier. \nThe London Cycling Campaign are organising a programme of action for Climate Safe Streets (https://lcc.org.uk/campaigns/climate-safe-streets/). As part of this the local groups in Southwark\, Lewisham and Greenwich are having a joint ride on Saturday 23rd April. Will be an easy route and marshals will control the busy bits so families can join in. You do not have to be a member of LCC. We want everyone to come along and demonstrate to councillors and candidates that more needs to be done to encourage cycling – to improve road safety and reduce pollution. \nThere are start/finish points in each borough. \n\n\n\nBorough\nLocation of start point \nStart time \nEnd time \n\n\nGreenwich\nCutty Sark Gardens \n \n09:30am \n \n12:30pm\n\n\nLewisham\nFolkestone Gardens\, Trundleys Rd SE8 5JE \n \n10:00am \n \n1:00pm\n\n\nSouthwark\nSouthwark Park Pavilion Cafe \n \n10:30am \n \n1.30pm\n\n\n\n  \nYou do not have to do the whole route. Fine to join us for just a stretch. Or great if you can do the entire route back and forth through all 3 boroughs. Route map. \nDecorate your bike. Make a placard and work out how to carry it on your bike. We want to attract attention! \nPlease register on Eventbrite if you can\, it helps with the planning\, Climate Safe Streets Ride – Greenwich\, Lewisham & Southwark.  However\, not required – it is OK to just turn up. \nP.S Nice LCC video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gufyAgd4qQw

SUMMARY:Tour de Rotherhithe - Healthy Ride
DESCRIPTION:NOTE. You must register on Eventbrite so we can limit numbers\, link: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/tour-de-rotherhithe-cycle-ride-tickets-322345252327 \nRotherhithe has a remarkable history. This ride takes you on a tour of interesting sites. And because of the excellent planning from the late 1980s there are lots of pedestrian/cycle paths and this ride is nearly completely off-road. A great ride for someone relatively new to cycling.  Start/finish point will be Deal Porter Square\, opposite Canada Water Station\, SE16 7AR. Start time 10am and finish 12 noon. Route is: Southwark Park\, King Stairs Gardens\, then Thames path all the way to Deptford Historic Riverside. Along this stretch will pass the departure point of the Mayflower\, the first underwater tunnel anywhere (by Brunel) and the Surrey Docks Farm. From Deptford will head back via the Surrey Canal Linear Park to South Dock\, Greenland Dock and Russia Woodland. Final stop at Stave Hill to admire the view then loop past surrey Water and along the canal to Canada Water. All this in 10 miles and as a final bonus – this route is entirely without hills!
