SUMMARY:Bermondsey Tour - Healthy Ride
DESCRIPTION:Bermondsey Tour\nNOTE. You must register for rides on Eventbrite so we can limit numbers\, link: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/bermondsey-tour-cycle-ride-tickets-2002933391692?aff=oddtdtcreator \nBerrmondsey\, the area along the Thames between Rotherhithe and London Bridge\, is rich in history.. The wharves along the Thames were used to import food which in turn spawned food processing factories inland. The social history was interesting. Dickens describes Bermondsey as having the worst slums in London but in the early 20th century this area was a pioneer in slum clearance and social housing. On this easy ride we will pass the site of a medieval abbey\, signs of tannin\, a biscuit factory being repurposed\, London’s first rail terminus and more. Start 10am in Deal Porter Square\, opposite Canada Water Station\, Finish there 12 noon. 9 miles of cycling\, frequent short stops\, maybe even time for a coffee at the finish. Bruce leading. Route map with list of sites of interest at https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1G-3W6xSCsWXFZPea5hSb5sd2yCSylZ4&usp=sharing. Report with photos from the 2025 ride here. \nRiders of all ages are welcome on Healthy Rides but under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Same for “adults at risk”. Always give way to pedestrians and to other cyclists so all path users feel safe.  If you cannot make a ride\, please cancel so that someone else can take the place. These rides are part of a regular programme of Saturday rides organised by Southwark Cyclists\, more information at https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/healthy-rides/. \n

SUMMARY:Trinity Buoy Wharf Healthy Ride
DESCRIPTION:Trinity Buoy Wharf and Royal Docks\nNOTE. You must register for rides on Eventbrite so we can limit numbers\, link: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/trinity-buoy-wharf-and-barrier-park-ride-tickets-2003286355416?aff=oddtdtcreator \nStart/finish Southwark Needle\, south side London Bridge\, 9.30am. NOTE EARLY START. Amanda leading and aiming to finish before 1.30pm. We subtitled this ride the first time we did it in 2018 “The New\, The Old and The Derelict”. There is now less of the derelict and more of the new and the route changes to reflect this. Set off to Canary Wharf\, then a loop for Trinity where will have a stop with time for a look round. Then on to Barrier Park North and the Royal Docks and back to London Bridge. About 15 miles.  For those of you who have not visited Trinity Buoy Wharf\, try to get on this ride. Completely unique site with 2 decent cafes and some interesting art. Plus the history related to Trinity House and Michael Faraday.  Report from last year’s ride at https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/healthy-rides/healthy-ride-reports-2025/ride-reports-oct-18th-2025/ \nRiders of all ages are welcome on Healthy Rides but under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
