SUMMARY:Leafy Upper Plumstead Healthy Ride
DESCRIPTION:Leafy Upper Plumstead\nNOTE. Please register for rides on Eventbrite so we can limit numbers\, link:  https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/leafy-upper-plumstead-cycle-ride-tickets-2000052200973?aff=oddtdtcreator \nMeet 10am at Cutty Sark\, next to the Tunnel entrance. Finish back at Cutty Sark at 1.30pm. Easy-paced ride mostly on quiet streets or Cycleways. Leader Mike K. sets out the route as follows: \n\nRide across Greenwich Park.\nVisit Charlton House and Park.\nStop at Woolwich Barracks.\nPass Plumstead Common\, the Slade\, and Winns Common.\nExplore Rockcliffe Gardens and the old Woolwich Cemetery.\nRide to Shrewsbury Park.\nDescend to Woolwich for coffee.\nReturn to Greenwich via Woolwich Road.\n\nLots to see as usual. This ride really surprised riders earlier in the year – and quite changed their view of Plumstead! \nRiders of all ages are welcome on Healthy Rides but under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Same for “adults at risk”. Always give way to pedestrians and to other cyclists so all path users feel safe.  If you cannot make a ride\, please cancel so that someone else can take the place. SUMMARY:Lee Valley Country Park Healthy Ride
DESCRIPTION:Lee Valley Country Park \nIMPORTANT. Please register for rides on Eventbrite so we can limit numbers\, link: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/lee-valley-country-park-cycle-ride-tickets-2002216115299?aff=oddtdtcreator \nAn 18 mile ride planned and led by Owen. Starts at Stratford Station 9.30am\, ends at Cheshunt Station approx 1.30pm. Meet at Stratford Station street level\,  at the entrance to Westfield  Shopping Centre\, Montfitchit Road (approx. E15 1AZ). If you peer inside the shopping centre you should see Starbucks and M & S Foods.\nFrom Stratford station the ride heads into the QE Olympic Park then on to Hackney Marshes and Walthamstow Wetlands where we will have a coffee break at the Engine House cafe. Walthamstow Wetlands is owned by Thames Water but the London  Wildlife Trust manages the conservation and the wildlife aspects. It is an area of 520 acres and 10 interconnected reservoirs supplying water to 3.5 million Londoners. It is the largest urban wetland in Europe.\nAfter coffee we follow the Lee Navigation towpath past Tottenham Marshes up to Waltham Cross where we will stop for lunch at the Lee Valley White Water Centre . After lunch we’ll make our way to Lee Valley Country Park Wildlife Discovery Centre with spectacular views over Seventy Acre Lake. Final circuit around the Country Park before making our way to Cheshunt station where the ride ends. Cheshunt station is on the Weaver line that goes to London Liverpool Street.\nThis bike ride is one for bird watchers and so bring your binoculars. With about 8km of compacted gravel this ride is not suitable for road bikes or Bromptons. It is fine for gravel bikes\, mountain bikes and hybrid bikes. \nRiders of all ages are welcome on Healthy Rides but under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Same for “adults at risk”.
