SUMMARY:Community Speedwatch
DESCRIPTION:TfL and the Met are studying the Speedwatch stats and trying to make patterns with them. So this Speedwatch will be in a location only previously done at the weekend. At the weekend it catches loads of drivers\, particularly cabbies. The aim is to see whether it is better or worse when the tradesmens’ vans are rushing about. Doing the work of holding the speedgun and writing down the numbers will be a Southwark Cyclists’ volunteer and PCSO Kevin Phillips. Kevin does all the organising and to join in email Kevin on kevin.j.phillips@met.police.uk. He’s very jovial (see pic) and will be glad to hear from you. More background detail here: https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/66-in-a-20mph-zone/ \n

SUMMARY:Community Speedwatch
DESCRIPTION:Southwark Cyclists’ volunteer\, Werner will be pointing his speed gun at motorists in SE16. The speed limit is 20mph guys. It may be a wide and empty road but that doesn’t mean you can make up your own rules. The guy in charge is PCSO Kevin Phillips who does the organising and provides protective muscle if any if required. Mostly not though because these sessions are hugely popular with everyone other than motorists. To join in email Kevin at kevin.j.phillips@met.police.uk. He will be very pleased to hear from you.

SUMMARY:Dulwich to Wimbledon Park - Healthy Ride
DESCRIPTION:Please note – you must register on Eventbrite – https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/dulwich-park-to-wimbledon-park-southwark-healthy-ride-tickets-151438624001 \nJean has a new route planned for this ride – sounds good.  15 miles. 10am –12.30pm. Start/finish Dulwich Clock Café\, Dulwich Park SE21 7BQ.  Route: Dulwich Park via Brockwell Park\, Clapham Common\, Wandsworth Common to Wimbledon Park. Return same route.  Mostly quiet streets\, occasional busy junction\, lots of easily cycled paths in the parks and on the commons. Coffee stop in Wimbledon Park. \nWe will keep everyone as safe as possible by observing all the Covid Regulations. Most importantly we will be maintaining routinely a 2m social distance\, never less than 1m. Particularly important to maintain social distancing from other users on shared paths.  Always give way to pedestrians and to other cyclists so all path users can maintain 1-2 m and feel safe. Just in case we need them\, good idea to bring a face mask.  Obviously please do not turn up to this event if you are displaying symptoms of Covid-19. \nWe have 2 waves starting for a ride. The 2 groups will ride the same route with their own ride leader. On the road we expect the groups to stay in sight of each other\, but distinct. Please note the Covid regulations say “avoid social interaction with anyone outside the group you are with\, even if you see other people you know”. \nSo please: \n\nKeep in your group of 6 – Note if your ticket says “General admission” you are in group 1; if it says “Dulwich-Wimbledon-Wave 2” you are in group 2.\nOnly talk to those outside your group away from the group and socially distanced.\nConsider wearing a face mask.\n\nOnce the event is finished\, you can of course interact with anyone as long as you observe social distancing and the other Covid regulations. \nThis ride is part of a regular programme of Saturday rides\, more information at https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/healthy-rides/.  Southwark Cyclists are part of the London Cycling Campaign. This ride is organised by volunteers. If you have any feedback\, good or bad\, please get in touch with info@lcc.org.uk. For details of LCC’s Safeguarding and other policies please see lcc.org.uk

SUMMARY:Community Speedwatch
DESCRIPTION:Southwark Cyclists’ volunteer Sally Eva will be wielding the speedgun and PCSO Kevin Phillips will be taking the numbers of offending vehicles. These sessions are organised by the Met in collaboration with TfL. TfL do the funding and the volunteers and the Met do the doing. Some of the speeds they find are rather remarkable https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/66-in-a-20mph-zone/ \nThere are lots of fun aspects to this: watching drivers slam their brakes on when they spot you is sort of  bitter-sweet. They slowed down (good) but now you can’t catch them. You can join in. Email Kevin on kevin.j.phillips@met.police.uk and state your preferences. He’s an affable guy with the correct views on speeders (he’s against them). He’s flexible about locations though he wants to check them out first.

SUMMARY:Community Speedwatch
DESCRIPTION:Southwark Cyclists’ volunteer Werner will be wielding the speedgun on Salter Road in SE1. Numbers on the road have risen as people have been frightened off the buses and tubes and aggro has increased at the same time. Drivers\, like all of us\, have personal fears and interrupted private lives. Neither makes them safer. You can join in and track the speeders down. The guy who runs the show is PCSO Kevin Phillips on kevin.j.phillips@met.police.uk. He’s very nice and will be glad of the help. SUMMARY:Community Speed Watch
DESCRIPTION:Organised by the Met\, this is a partnership between the police and the community. Representing the police we have PCSO Kevin Phillips\, new father and Welshman\, loves his volunteers and hates speeders. Representing the community\, a Southwark Cyclist volunteer holding the speed gun. Not just us I should explain: councillors\, concerned residents and a cross-section of the law-abiding take a turn. To join in email Kevin at kevin.j.phillips@met.police.uk. He’s very flexible on dates and times and interested to review new locations. People who do it once tend to do it again so it can’t be bad.

SUMMARY:Community Speed Watch
DESCRIPTION:This is a picture of Kevin\, the Met-man\, who organises Community Speed Watch. Our Southwark Cyclist volunteer is there to provide living proof that the community doesn’t like speeding and Kevin symbolises the power of the state supporting us or something like that. The volunteer holds the speed gun and calls out the speeds and Kevin notes the make and colour of the offender. Drivers don’t like it much but no threats or truculence have been reported so far. You can join in. Email Kevin\,j.phillips@met.police.uk and he will be delighted to assist.

SUMMARY:Community Speed Watch
DESCRIPTION:Community Speed Watch is organised by the Met in the person of PCSO Kevin Phillips. Kevin is an affable guy who loves and hates speeders. He works with a volunteer (in this case one of ours)  who points the speed gun and clocks the speed. As a terribly unfair generalisation I would suggest it’s probably more than 20. Kevin then  notes the make and colour to make sure that the offender is bang to rights. Lordship Lane/Court Lane used to be a peak danger spot. It’ll be interesting to see if the Dulwich LTN has slowed anyone down or just made them more bad-tempered. To join in email Kevin on kevin.j.phillips@met.police.uk and name your price. Kevin is very flexible on dates and times. If you have a new place in mind\, he likes to check them out first.

SUMMARY:Canada Water\, Greenwich\, Tower Bridge Loop – Healthy Ride
DESCRIPTION:NOTE – You must book on Eventbrite at https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/canada-water-greenwich-tower-bridge-loop-southwark-healthy-ride-tickets-133072069141 so that we can limit numbers. \nFrom Canada Water (Deal Porter Squ) an easy 10 mile loop using DLR at Greenwich and Tower Bridge (or London Bridge). NB Bring Travel Card or be ready to purchase DLR ticket). No hills\, mostly off road or quiet streets. Tower Bridge can be busy\, but strict 20 mph and no awkward side turnings\, so not as bad as people think.  Lots to see always on the river.  Jamie leading. \nIf you cannot make it\, please cancel so that someone else can take the place. Even at the last minute it is worth cancelling. \nWe will keep everyone as safe as possible by observing all the Covid Regulations. We need to split the ride into groups of 6. The groups should not mix during the event. Your “ticket” (coded red\, green or blue) will indicate which group you are in. Please keep in these groups at the start and throughout the ride. Each group will have a Group Leader whose instructions you should obey. \nIt is important that we maintain a 2m social distance. Particularly important to maintain social distancing from other users on shared paths\, i.e. on much of this ride.  Always give way to pedestrians and to other cyclists so all path users can maintain 2 m and feel safe.  Riders are instructed to bring face masks as these will be needed for the DLR. \nPlease do not turn up to this event if you are displaying symptoms of Covid-19. The safety of our volunteers and participants is key to us. \nWe may contact you after the ride to ask you about your experiences and will let you know more ways to sign up to information from the London Cycling Campaign
