Over the years\, an astonishing range of cover-ups have been attempted\, and on this fun ride we’ll see ten of the finest examples. \nWe set off from Canada Water (10am) on a 20-mile route\, visiting Burgess Park\, Pimlico Tube Station\, and Hyde Park\, where we stop for a leisurely break by the Serpentine. After circling the park we head for the river\, cycling from Westminster bridge to Waterloo bridge\, before heading for the Strand. From there\, we go to Paternoster Square\, then Finsbury Circus and finally to see our last example at the Bank of England. From there\, it’s down to London Bridge\, where some riders will probably choose to catch a train\, while the rest of us make a quick and easy return to Canada Water by way of Tooley Street and Jamaica Road. John S. leading. Aiming to be at London Bridge for 2pm and Canada Water at 2.30. \nRiders of all ages are welcome on Healthy Rides but under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult.  Same for “adults at risk”. Please register for rides on Eventbrite so we can limit numbers\, link:   https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/canada-water-to-the-o2-and-beyond-cycle-ride-tickets-1026417019937 \nFlat and almost all traffic free or segregated path – a ride for all abilities. Start 10am from Deal Porter Square\, next to Canada Water Library and opposite Canada Water station. Possible to join the ride at Cutty Sark\, next to the Foot Tunnel\, at 10.25. Follow Cycleway 14 to Thames at Greenland Dock\, then Thames path to the O2. Some really nice riverside cycle path to enjoy. If things go well could make it as far as the Barrier.  Return inland using Cycleway 4. From Thames path head for Charlton shopping area and join the cycleway there after having a break at Costa. Cycleway 4 is fully segregated almost all the way to Tower Bridge these days. If you have not tried it this is good chance to ride most of it.  Will be back at Canada Water by 1 pm. SUMMARY:Bermondsey Tour - Healthy Ride
DESCRIPTION:Bermondsey Tour \nNOTE. Please register for rides on Eventbrite so we can limit numbers\, link: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/bermondsey-tour-a-southwark-healthy-ride-tickets-1015650667487. \nBermondsey\, the area along the Thames between Rotherhithe and Tower Bridge and bounded to the south by the Old Kent Road\, has a long history. The wharves along the Thames were used to import food which in turn spawned food processing factories inland. The social history was interesting too. Dickens describes it as having the worst slums in London but in the early 20th century Bermondsey was a pioneer in slum clearance and social housing. Om this easy ride we will pass the site of a medieval abbey\, signs of tanning\, an abandoned biscuit factory and more. Start 10am in Deal Porter Square\, opposite Canada Water Station\, finish there 12 noon. 9 miles of cycling\, frequent short stops\, maybe even time for a coffee at the finish. Bruce leading. SUMMARY:The Full Wandle Healthy Ride
DESCRIPTION:The Full Wandle\nNOTE. Please register for rides on Eventbrite so we can limit numbers\, link:  https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/the-wandle-trail-tickets-1015656876057. \nThis ride is a nice challenge: ride the entire Wandle Trail on a Saturday morning starting from Southwark Bridge (Southwark Needle\, south east side of London Bridge). In fact we are going to cheat a bit by ending the ride at East Croydon Station. So bring your Travel Pass or equivalent to get home by train.  This ride is Amanda’s idea and she will be leading. Total ride distance is 19 miles and we are planning to finish by 2pm following a 9am start. This should allow time for looking around at some of the interesting parts of the Trail and having a coffee break. Parts of the trail are not surfaced and can be quite uneven\, so difficult on narrow wheels with tyres inflated hard. \nRoute outline. Start Southwark Gateway Needle\, SE side London Bridge\, 9am. From London Bridge take Cycleway 10 to Waterloo.  Over Westminster Bridge and along the cycle lane on the embankment to and over Chelsea Bridge and into Battersea Park. Pick up the Thames Path to the start of the trail where the River Wandle meets the Thames.  Nice stretches include Abbey Water Mill\, Morden Hall Park\, Carshalton Ponds and Beddington Park.  Useful guide: http://wandlevalleypark.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/Wandle-Trail-Map-Print.pdf. \nRiders of all ages are welcome on Healthy Rides but under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Same for “adults at risk”. Always give way to pedestrians and to other cyclists so all path users feel safe.  If you cannot make a ride\, please cancel so that someone else can take the place.

We’ll stop for refreshments a couple of times.  Start at Sittingbourne station and end at Queensborough. Ride is about 25-30 miles (depends a bit on the weather).
