SUMMARY:Rotherhithe Healthy RIde
DESCRIPTION:Canada Water to Camberwell Loop. What you need after all that eating and drinking is a cycle ride! So come along on an easy-paced ride taking in several of the new\, upgraded or proposed cycle routes in Southwark and Lambeth. Out via Quietway 1 from Rotherhithe New Road bridge to Oxley Close and proposed Q7 from Burgess Park to Elmington Rd. Stop at Camberwell Green to consider what can be done about the big crossroads (out to consultation soon). Continue on Camberwell New Rd (was to be Superhighway 5 once) to the Oval junction\, then the upgraded CS7 to the Elephant and Castle. Have a look at the new 2-way\, peninsular\, layout of the northern junction\, then the nice\, recently opened\, cycle track that begins the North-South Superhighway. Return using the western part of Q1 to Lynton Rd\, followed by a back streets route to Canada Water via the north end of Southwark Park.  Suitable for anyone with a bike. Route at  https://goo.gl/04a6MX

SUMMARY:Unscheduled Healthy Ride
DESCRIPTION:Extra ride for anyone interested in getting out on Boxing Day.  This is 4th Saturday in the month so there would normally be a Healthy Ride although\, due to holiday\, none was scheduled.  However\, Werner says he will be at Canada Water Library on Boxing Day\, 10am\, for a short ride with anyone who wants a break from the festivities\, or just to build up their appetite for some Bubble and Squeak.   Planning a 15k route: out via Tower Bridge\, in case there are different riders from last week another loop around the Gherkin\, a last-chance-before-the-500-years-since-1666-crowds trip to the Monument and a seasonal look at the current instance of St Paul’s (and maybe a thought for the one which disappeared almost 500 years ago) before returning via Southwark Bridge.

DESCRIPTION:Plan is to do a central London loop taking in some of the new cycling infrastructure\, some seasonal delights\, the Ai Wei Wei “Forever” bicycle sculpture at the Gherkin\, and much\, much more! DESCRIPTION:Peckham to South Bank Loop. Easy-going ride on quiet roads and off-road paths.  Start across Burgess Park\, then Walworth Green Route\, across to Great Suffolk St\, pick up QW14 proposed alignment to Cornwall Rd and thence to South Bank next to ITV building.  Back along the river (NR4) including the now closed Sumner St (being pedestrianised to provide nice approach to the Tate Modern Extension). Leave river route at Dockhead and back to Peckham Square via Bermondsey Square Gardens and the Canal Path. \nOne of series every 4th Saturday from Peckham Square (Peckham Library\, Peckham Pulse).  Also rides every 2nd Saturday from Canada Water Library\, and longer “+” rides on 3rd Saturdays. DESCRIPTION:Plan is to do a train-assisted ride from Crystal Palace to Canada Water. This is a ride we did last January – and rather eventful it was (see http://healthyrider.weebly.com/healthy-ride-reports-jan_mar2015.html). This time the route will be slightly shorter and the trains a bit more complex. \nMeet Canada Water Library 9.30am. Cycle to New Cross Gate station (no Overground next Saturday between Surrey Quays and New Cross). Board 9.52 Overground train (or failing that\, the 10.07). So anyone who wishes can join us at New Cross Gate station. Note lift was not working at New Cross Gate when I did the recce\, so be prepared to carry bike down one flight of steps. Arrive Crystal Palace 10.11 (or 10 26). Departure from Crystal Palace Station will be at 10.30. Again\, anyone who wishes can meet us at Crystal Palace – but be a good idea to let me have your phone number in case of delays (my number\, 07729 279 945). Also\, if it is more convenient\, you can join the train at any intermediate station\, but must be either the train arriving at CP at 10.11 or at 10.26. \nRoute will be through Crystal Palace Park past the Dinosaurs\, then by LCN27 pretty directly to Cator Park where we pick up Nat Route 21. So not doing the loop via South Norwood Country Park. Follow NR21 all the way to the Thames at Deptford\, including the Waterlink Way\, Ladywell Fields and Brookmill Park – so a lot of off road paths. Then along the river route (NR4) to Canada Water for 1pm. There will be a further led ride to New Cross Gate for anyone wanting to get the Overground back south.   Route at https://goo.gl/flGEKU

DESCRIPTION:Community Cycleworks are hosting a Festival of Cycling in Burgess Park\, Sat 14th November\, 12 noon to 4pm.  Southwark Cyclists will be leading a series of short rides to local destinations and back to demo some quiet routes. DESCRIPTION:At London Southbank Uni 9-11am on Wednesday November 11th. \nProfessional mechanic Clara will be aided and abetted and hopefully not too much hindered by a team of Southwark Cyclist assistants dispensing maps\, info and advice. \nClara\, more usefully\, will be fixing brakes\, gears and tyres. She’ll fit parts if you bring them and make your bike quieter\, safer and smoother to ride \nWe’ll be opposite the Keyworth Centre in Keyworth St (part of the Elephant bypass that runs through the Uni). There’s no shelter but hey\, we’re cyclists\, we’re waterproof. No coffee either. We can’t do without that but bring your own. \nOpen to all (though positioned for the convenience of LBSU students and staff). \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:Start: Peckham Square (Peckham Library; Peckham Pulse) SE15 5JR\nPeckham to Waterlink Way Loop.  Plan is to ride up to Nunhead and through the Cemetery.  Then on to Camberwell New Cemetery\, slide past Forest Hill Station on the east side and down to Bell Green. Next follow the Waterlink Way off road path north to Ladywell.  From there up steep rise to Hilly Fields where we can admire the view of the London skyline. From Hilly Fields across to Brockley\, then Nunhead and finally a nice run down to Peckham.  A lot of road\, but mostly quiet road.  Two big climbs\, but a short ride (12 miles) so we can take our time over the uphills.  Route at https://goo.gl/ygI7Gt
