SUMMARY:Thames Crossings Ride East from Canada Water - Healthy Ride
DESCRIPTION:Thames Crossings Ride East from Canada Water\nPlease register for rides on Eventbrite so we can limit numbers\, link: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/thames-crossings-cycle-ride-east-from-canada-water-tickets-1992859257686?aff=oddtdtcreator \nThis is a new route devised by Gloria. A novel Thames loop using the Woolwich Ferry outbound and the Shuttle Bus for the return. Due to the limited capacity of the bus there will only be 7 tickets for full-size bikes plus another 8 for folding bikes. Note\, not sure how the Wait list will operate with 2 types of ticket. Email healthy.rider@mailfence.com. \nMeet in Deal Porter Square next to Canada Water Library at 9.30. Take an inland route via  The Den (Cycleway 10)\, through a section of Brookmill Park\, on to Blackheath and Charlton. Reach the Thames at Woolwich and if time do a stretch of the Thames Path to Galleons Reach and the Tor.  Return to Woolwich Arsenal and take a break before boarding the Woolwich Ferry to Silvertown. Head east via Barrier Park to the Shuttle Bus stop for the Silvertown Tunnel to North Greenwich. Final stretch Thames Path to Greenwich\, then a bit of Cycleway 4 to Grove St where will turn off and take a quiet route on to Canada Water. \nThere is about 20 miles of cycling including some hills. With the crossings may not be back before 2.30 pm. Forecast is for 29 degrees so dress appropriately\, apply sun cream and bring water (also snacks as long ride). \nRiders of all ages are welcome on Healthy Rides but under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Same for “adults at risk”. Always give way to pedestrians and to other cyclists so all path users feel safe.  If you cannot make a ride\, please cancel so that someone else can take the place. These rides are part of a regular programme of Saturday rides\, more information at https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/healthy-rides/.

SUMMARY:Burgess Park to Albert Bridge Healthy Ride
DESCRIPTION:Burgess Park to Albert Bridge\n. Please register for rides on Eventbrite so we can limit numbers\, link:  https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/burgess-park-to-albert-bridge-cycle-ride-tickets-1992867073062?aff=oddtdtcreator \nAlbert Bridge was recently found to be damaged by all the motor traffic and is now bikes and peds only. Yipee!  It will probably get fixed\, so let’s ride there while it is traffic free. Meet Burgess Park\, Stomping Grounds Café\, 10am. 11 mile circuit. Plan to be back at Burgess Park for 12.30.  Start heading west to Myatts Fields\, then across Stockwell (think bus garage) to Larkhall Park. Continue using newish cycle tracks on Thessaly Rd to Battersea Power Station and Battersea Park. Good place for a coffee before we cross Albert Bridge and take some photos. Return route will go along embankment to Lupus St\, then quietish streets to Horseferry Rd and Lambeth Bridge. Lambeth Bridge has been much improved\, new cycle lanes and the ridiculous roundabout on south side replaced by a cross roads. From this point cross to Old Paradise Gardens (think hidden gem) and Damien Hirst’s Newport Street Gallery and into Lambeth Walk (please rehearse the song). Across to Geraldine Mary Harmsworth Park taking care when passing the Imperial War Museum’s BIG gun. Then west bypass of the Elephant\, bit of cycleway 17 and back to our starting point in Burgess Park.  Loads to see on this ride and very few tricky bits. A good ride for less experienced riders. Bruce leading. Route map at https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1v7h_Oe7VYf2EQwpTqWRUklrQa7WiR64&usp=sharing \nRiders of all ages are welcome on Healthy Rides but under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult. SUMMARY:Harold Wood to Waltham Cross Healthy Ride
DESCRIPTION:Harold Wood to Waltham Cross Healthy Ride\nPlease register for rides on Eventbrite so we can limit numbers\, link: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/harold-wood-to-waltham-cross-cycle-ride-tickets-1993139628282?aff=oddtdtcreator \nAnother Essex adventure devised by Owen. The ride starts at Harold Wood station on the Elizabeth line (Station step free\, Zone 6\, 35 min from Liverpool St). Meet 10am for a prompt start. For those training for a long charity ride Google says from London Bridge 17 miles/ !h 32 min. \nHarold Wood and neighbouring Harold Hill are named after Harold Godwinson\, king Harold 2 the last Anglo Saxon king of England. From Harold Wood we head toward Harold Hill Central Park. From there we climb up towards Havering-atte-Bower stopping at Bedfords Park Visitor’s Centre with a deer sanctuary and magnificent views of Central London. We then ride along Wellingtonia Avenue with its majestic giant Sequoia trees. This area has the second largest plantation of giant redwood trees in the country. The ride then passes through Havering Country Park\, Hainault Forest\, Chigwell Row\, Chigwell\, Loughton\, and then Epping Forest where we will take another break. From there we head to Waltham Abbey and the memorial to King Harold 2. If we have time we’ll stop by the Lee Valley White Water Centre before heading down the Lee Valley Navigation and then towards Turkey Street station on the Weaver line where the ride ends. Estimated finish time 2pm. Note Turkey St Station is not step free. Nearest step free option is Edmonton Green\, 4 miles down the A10.\nThis ride is 40km long and requires a reasonable level of fitness as there are a few gentle hills. It includes about 7km on unpaved paths which makes the ride ideal for gravel bikes\, mountain bikes and hybrid bikes.  Unfortunately this ride is not recommended for road bikes or Bromptons. \nGeneral. Riders of all ages are welcome on Healthy Rides but under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Same for “adults at risk”. Always give way to pedestrians and to other cyclists so all path users feel safe.  If you cannot make a ride\, please cancel so that someone else can take the place. Amanda leading a cross river circuit to Cody Dock. Cody Dock is run as a charitable Social Enterprise with the aim of regenerating the dock and surrounding waterways (see https://codydock.org.uk). Outward will go to the Cable Car at the O2 via the Thames path\, then fly across the river and head for Cody Dock. Return will be via the free Woolwich Ferry followed by the Thames path back to Greenwich. If short of time will return via Isle of Dogs and use DLR from Mudchute to cross the river.  Bring Travel Card etc. for the Cable car (full fare is £7). Aim is to be back by 1.30pm. \nPlease note. Electric bikes are not allowed on the cable car.  E-bike riders can use Shuttle Bus instead. Meet at start (9.30\, Cutty Sark) ride to the O2.
