Follow Cycleway 14 to Thames at Greenland Dock\, then Thames path to the O2. Some really nice riverside cycle path to enjoy. Cycleway 4 is fully segregated almost all the way to Tower Bridge these days. If you have not tried it this is good chance to ride most of it.  Will be back at Canada Water by 1 pm. SUMMARY:Bermondsey Tour - Healthy Ride
DESCRIPTION:Bermondsey Tour \nNOTE. Please register for rides on Eventbrite so we can limit numbers\, link: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/bermondsey-tour-a-southwark-healthy-ride-tickets-1015650667487. \nBermondsey\, the area along the Thames between Rotherhithe and Tower Bridge and bounded to the south by the Old Kent Road\, has a long history. The wharves along the Thames were used to import food which in turn spawned food processing factories inland. The social history was interesting too. Dickens describes it as having the worst slums in London but in the early 20th century Bermondsey was a pioneer in slum clearance and social housing. Om this easy ride we will pass the site of a medieval abbey\, signs of tanning\, an abandoned biscuit factory and more. Start 10am in Deal Porter Square\, opposite Canada Water Station\, finish there 12 noon. 9 miles of cycling\, frequent short stops\, maybe even time for a coffee at the finish. Bruce leading. SUMMARY:The Full Wandle Healthy Ride
DESCRIPTION:The Full Wandle\nNOTE. Please register for rides on Eventbrite so we can limit numbers\, link:  https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/the-wandle-trail-tickets-1015656876057. \nThis ride is a nice challenge: ride the entire Wandle Trail on a Saturday morning starting from Southwark Bridge (Southwark Needle\, south east side of London Bridge). In fact we are going to cheat a bit by ending the ride at East Croydon Station. So bring your Travel Pass or equivalent to get home by train.  This ride is Amanda’s idea and she will be leading. Total ride distance is 19 miles and we are planning to finish by 2pm following a 9am start. This should allow time for looking around at some of the interesting parts of the Trail and having a coffee break. Parts of the trail are not surfaced and can be quite uneven\, so difficult on narrow wheels with tyres inflated hard. \nRoute outline. Start Southwark Gateway Needle\, SE side London Bridge\, 9am. From London Bridge take Cycleway 10 to Waterloo.  Over Westminster Bridge and along the cycle lane on the embankment to and over Chelsea Bridge and into Battersea Park. Pick up the Thames Path to the start of the trail where the River Wandle meets the Thames.  Nice stretches include Abbey Water Mill\, Morden Hall Park\, Carshalton Ponds and Beddington Park.  Useful guide: http://wandlevalleypark.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/Wandle-Trail-Map-Print.pdf. \nRiders of all ages are welcome on Healthy Rides but under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Same for “adults at risk”. Always give way to pedestrians and to other cyclists so all path users feel safe.  If you cannot make a ride\, please cancel so that someone else can take the place.

Please register for rides on Eventbrite so we can limit numbers\, link: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/gardens-greenery-ride-tickets-1006604851207 .  Do not turn up for rides if you have not been able to register. \nThis ride has proved very popular but has been marred by poor weather and 3 weeks ago was cancelled – very unusual for the Healthy Rides.  Undaunted we are trying again and offering another opportunity to look at some interesting examples of gardens and greenery on a ride from the City to Chelsea\, Battersea Power Station & Vauxhall. \nStart: 10h00 at Emma Cons Gardens\, The Cut\, London SE1 8LN (Opposite The Old Vic\, near Waterloo Station). Finish: 13h00 at Emma Cons Gardens. Ride Leader Jane C. says: ”A 13 mile ride passing some established parks & gardens\, street planting and new landscaping. Should be some lovely stuff to see. Usual mix of cycle ways and quieter streets with some short sections on busier roads and crossings at junctions”. The attached image is to give a general Idea of the route – probably be a bit different in practice. And they  take just 13 min from Whitechapel to Woolwich. \nStart 9.30 at Southwark Needle (London Bridge) for an estimated 3½ hour round trip with Bruce leading.  Note slightly earlier time than usual. There are 3 stages to the ride. First we will ride to Whitechapel Station. Step free access is from the back entrance on Durward St.  Stage 2 is the Elizabeth Line to Woolwich Arsenal. Bring travel card or equivalent. Stage 3 will be the 9 mile ride back to London Bridge using lots of Thames Path and Cycleway. Short coffee stop during return leg.  Quite a complex ride. SUMMARY:Annual Rides Picnic
DESCRIPTION:Annual Rides Picnic\nFor some years we have arranged a picnic with Lets Go Cycling (https://www.facebook.com/groups/2243369265928023/?locale=en_GB). It is a social event\, but we do amuse ourselves with a few silly cycling games (for example to find out who is the slowest cyclist in SE London).  Location this year is Ladywell Fields near the Good Hope Café\, (51.49805\, -0.04906\, ///events.league.ocean).  Kicking off at 12 noon. Location is on National Route 21 at the start of the Waterlink Way so pretty easy to find.  We are also leading a feeder ride from Canada Water via Peckham Rye Park Café\, details in the Events listing.. Note this is an event where you can just turn up – no registration. We invite local LCC Groups including Greenwich and Lewisham Cyclists and are happy for any cyclists interested in social rides to turn up. We also\, of course\, welcome partners\, friends and relatives.  Riders of all ages are welcome but under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Same for “adults at risk”.

DESCRIPTION:The Ridgeway Healthy Ride\nNOTE. Please register for rides on Eventbrite so we can limit numbers\, link: https:/www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/se-london-ridgeway-cycle-ride-tickets-965374760897. If a ride is full join the Wait List. Please do not turn up for rides if you have not been able to register. \n \nThere is a ridge running from Sydenham Hill to Beulah Hill where you can cycle for 4 km at just over 100m altitude. 3 issues. 1. You have to climb up a steep hill to get on to the ridge. 2. Most of the road along the ridge is busy with no cycle infrastructure. 3. Because it is all built up and there are lots of trees you get next to no views. But it is a nice challenge for a Saturday morning. \nStart/finish Dulwich clock Café\, middle of Dulwich Park. 10 am start\, 1.30 finish. 10 mile circuit so leaving lots of time to walk the steep bits. Uphill start to Horniman Museum\, then steep Sydenham Rise and Hill. Make sure your lowest gear is working! Once at the top a level ride along the ridge to Crystal Palace Parade and on to the top of Beulah Hill. Ridge ends there and we will drop down to have a look at Grangewood Park. Return by climbing back up to the top of Beulah Hill then descending along a spur to the corner of Streatham Common\, then more lovely downhill to West Norwood and back to Dulwich. Will fit in a coffee stop somewhere.  Route at https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1P3S1ZC2C7jOVILN16J7r6CuidCVHM-s&usp=sharing

Do not turn up for rides if you have not been able to register. You can join a Wait List on Eventbrite. \nSmall parks often have a charm of their own. And we are lucky to have lots of them in London. Most have some individual feature of interest. Some have remarkable activities embedded. This flat\, easy-paced\, 10 mile route includes 12 small parks and also visits 2 larger parks. A mixture of paths\, quiet streets and some short stretches of busy street. \nRide will start (10am) and finish (12.30pm) at Waterloo Millenium Green\, SE1 7AA\, across from The Old Vic. Meet up next to the Baylis St entrance.  Cannot resist starting via the Graffiti Tunnel under Waterloo Station.  Then begin the ride proper by visiting some small parks close to the river\, Archbishop’s Park\, Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens\, Vauxhall Park. Next\, heading a bit inland\, Larkhall Park and on to Wyck Gardens\, Brixton\, home of the Ebony Horse Club\, a Community Riding Centre. Heading back traverse Elam Open space\, Myatts Fields\, Eythorne Park and Kennington Park.  On to Cleaver Square\, then a small diversion to the Beefeater Gin Distillery (sadly no time for a tour)\, the Cinema Museum and its neighbour the house in a water tower.  Briefly into Southwark for Geraldine Mary Harmsworth Park and finally back to Waterloo Millenium Green.
