That’s 51mph in a 20mph zone. Top speed so far 66mph. Speeding drivers claim to be the best judge of their own speed and (anyway) if it mattered the police would do something about them. The police meanwhile warm and snug in their cars, unaware that drivers are on their best behaviour all round them, feel there isn’t much of a problem.
Community Speedwatch — a co-operative effort between the police and the community — has shown how big a problem there is. Representing the community today near the junction of South Croxted Road and the south circular will be Southwark Cyclist Bob Eva with his comrade-in-arms PCSO Kevin Phillips.
