SUMMARY:Greenwich to High Tor of Thamesmead
DESCRIPTION:This is a leisurely easy-paced ride along the Thames Path from the Cutty Sark to the High Tor of Thamesmead. The High Tor isn’t very high because few places on the Thames flood plain are high but on a clear day you can see the whole of south-east London from the top. \nReal name for the Tor is Gallions Hill which isn’t half as nice. Fanciful folk have claimed that it’s a heathen mound with human sacrifices on the top (no I made that up) It’s actually a twenty-metre-high landmark created from recycled excavated material dug up presumably when they built Thamesmead. A spiral footway/cycleway leads to the paved circle on the summit in the form of a compass. \nOn the way the ride will take in the No-Longer-Missing Link on the Thames Path and admire what the campaigning skills of Greenwich Cyclists have achieved. There will be a stop for a tea break. Suitable for all bikes and no pace too slow. About 20miles in all. It will be led by Sarah on 07900 677 706. No texts please\, she thinks it’s good to talk. \nThis ride is organised by Greenwich Cyclists\, a branch of London Cycling Campaign which campaigns for safe\, enjoyable cycling in London. It’s a very famous and important group so there are counterfeit versions. Their genuine website is here: http://greenwichcyclists.org.uk

SUMMARY:Bike Train to Blackfriars
DESCRIPTION:Bike Trainers past — looking surprisingly lovely really when you think what the organisers look like. Arriving at work with a smile on their faces. You can do that too. Come with us and learn off-road and segregated routes to central London via Blackfriars. We bike-buddy riders to their final destination. Escorted all the way and totally free. \n\n\nThe Bike Train starts at 7.45am from Nunhead station\, 7.55am from Peckham Rye Station and 7.55am from Denmark Hill Station. The Peckham Rye and Denmark Hill lines join in Burgess Park which is why it’s OK that they start at the same time. \nThe starting point in Peckham is the bike stands behind McDonalds and at Denmark Hill from outside the cafe in Windsor Walk. Camberwell Grove and Windsor Walk have both been closed since we started so this route keeps getting better. \nOur route takes us through two parks\, up a traffic-calmed back street\, onto the on-pavement cycling lanes on the New Kent Road\, around the Elephant and Castle by-pass and onto the still lovely but no longer so new segregation up St George’s Way and Blackfriars Road. All legal and all as safe as your mother would make it. \nWe get to Blackfriars at 8.30am and anyone who wants can be buddied wherever they want. Return rides arranged on request. For further details or to book your place text 07842 640 207 (me). Or just turn up \nThe map is here: https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=1Pq8aj3Ylf1S9eg44QbGvAD4qSbM&ll=51.49177636679164%2C-0.0878830999999991&z=12 \n\n\n\nAnd the cycle.travel map is here: http://cycle.travel/map/journey/41005. The info with the map says we do 500m on major roads so it may not know about the on-pavement cycle lanes on the New Kent Road — and 130m pushing. No pushing. I’m fine to push when required but it’s not required. \n\n\n\n\n\nSouthwark Cyclists is the borough branch of the London Cycling Campaign which campaigns for more\, better cycling in London. Most of us are members but you don’t have to be. Most of us live in Southwark but some of us don’t and you don’t have to. And everything we do is free

SUMMARY:commuter ride to Blackfriars and central London
DESCRIPTION:Meet the team. From the left\, my husband Bob\, me (the bald one) and Andy who’s in charge. Total age around 200 not including Eleanor. The red bike belongs to Eleanor who took the photo. SUMMARY:Freecycle: Ride London
DESCRIPTION:Southwark Cyclists will be leading a feeder ride to the Prudential Ride London event.  There will also be a led return.  Ride will be fully marshalled and suitable for all cyclists of any age.  Meeting place is at the Cafe on Strakers Rd\, in the middle of Peckham Rye Park. \nThe cafe is marked in a slightly weird place on the map. it is right beside Strakers Road rather than as marked (as anyone who knows the park will know) over in the bushes. \nAfter 10 mind bending minutes of trying to draw a map I will just say that a lot of the route is down parks\, green spaces\, on-pavement cycle lanes and cycle superhighways. \nThere are two pick-up points on the way — the first at around 10.10am will be under Peckham Arch which is the access point into Peckham Square from Rye Lane. Eleanor will be meeting and greeting and the Arch looks like this: \n \nWe will meet a group from the north of the borough at Burgess Park Cafe (which is 200 Albany Road if you want to look at it on a google map) at 10.30am. A group from Crystal Palace are also expected to join us here and then we will all go on together to Southwark Bridge. \nAfter that it’s every man\, woman and child for themselves. The return ride is not at all compulsory but if you want to come back as well then details will be finalised on arrival. \nDetails: \nRoute: Southwark to Southwark Bridge\nStart point: Strakers Road\, Peckham Rye Park\, Peckham SE15 3UA\nEnd point: Southwark Bridge\nStart time: 10:00\nDistance: Five miles\nReturn ride start point: Southwark Bridge\nReturn ride start time: 15:00 \nMore info at https://www.prudentialridelondon.co.uk/events/freecycle/rider-info/led-rides/   (Includes info on other borough led rides.) \nWe are part of the London cycling campaign but you don’t have to be to join. Everything we do is free and everyone is welcome. \n\n

SUMMARY:Peckham Healthy Ride to Greenwich
DESCRIPTION:First ride of 2017. Peckham Square 10am – 12 noon. Usual easy-paced ride on (mostly) quiet roads and paths. Peckham to Greenwich via Telegraph Hill.  Come and burn off some of those excess calories from the seasonal festivities.  A route we have done several times\, but not recently. Uphill start to Telegraph Hill \, then down to the Waterlink Way at Brookmill Park\, along National Route 21\, over Halfpenny Bridge (LCN 2) and on to the Cutty Sark.  Brief break there. Back over new swing bridge\, then Quietway 1 to Surrey Canal Rd.  Next the lovely path across Bridgehouse Meadows followed by the dreadful non-crossing of Old Kent Rd to Brimmington Park and quietish roads and path to Peckham Square.  For route see http://goo.gl/maps/GkEuB.
