This has made shopping\, walking and cycling through the area safer and more pleasant. \nA new campaign has been started to make the pedestrianisation of Rye Lane permanent. Learn how to engage with your councillors and council officers\, and build support amongst your neighbours. \nWe’ll also be giving an update on Southwark’s recent announcement to improve our streets in response to Covid-19. \nOur meetings are formatted as follows. Former Commons Transport Chair Lilian Greenwood commented\, “Right now all our energies are on tackling the coronavirus but when we come out the other side we have an equally serious emergency because emissions from transport have to be tackled if we are serious about turning around the future of the planet for coming generations.” \nJoin Southwark Cyclists’ General Meeting on Wednesday 8th April 7:30-8:30pm to brainstorm how we might decarbonise Southwark’s roads. DESCRIPTION:Join Southwark Cyclists for this meeting with London’s Walking and Cycling Commissioner\, Will Norman. We’ll be asking him about progress on major cycle routes in Southwark\, the recent changes in cycleway standards\, and how campaigners can be more effective in getting safe routes. \nSpaces are limited\, so please register if you’d like to attend. We kindly ask you to update your RSVP if you can no longer attend. \nRegister for this event \nThe event starts promptly at 7:30pm. This will follow our monthly committee meeting that starts at 6:30pm. All are welcome to attend. We’ll be heading to the pub after the meeting for anyone that wants to attend. \nThe Bridge is located on Southwark Bridge Road at Southwark Street\, near the intersection of CS7 and QW14. There are bike stands in front of the building\, across Southwark Street\, and near Union Street at QW14. London Bridge Station and Borough Underground station are a 6 minute walk away and many buses serve the area. \nThis event is hosted by Southwark Cyclists\, campaigning for better cycling in Southwark. Coming from Burgess Park\, cross Camberwell New Road and proceed in an westerly direction along Urlwin Street\, under the railway bridges\, left at the end and straight on into the cul-de-sac in front of you. Very respectable. Look carefully\, no 41 is slightly less respectable and belongs to the tenants association. That’s the place. No bike parking. Try the railings. \n \nThe alternative approach is via Addington Square\, across to Bethwin Street\, right into Grosvenor Terrace\, immediately right into Grosvenor Park \n Look for the cul-de-sac on your right at the end. If you are very lost shout loudly and someone will come out and wave their arms about to guide you home. We seem to have located a pub  I am glad to say. Travel hopefully and you will arrive.
