SUMMARY:Dulwich to Streatham Common - Healthy Ride
DESCRIPTION:An undulating (might be considered “a bit hilly”) route on mostly quiet streets through Tulse Hill. Round the west part of the Streatham Common then up to the Rookery Cafe where if time a coffee break. Return up through the common to Leigham Court Rd then quiet streets to Norwood Park. Detour slightly to criss-cross the park then down to Gipsy Rd and the Paxton Roundabout.  Run down Alleyn Park back to start.  First ride to Streathem went well (see report) and the time poring over a countour map to get the flattest route paid dividends.  Route at http://tiny.cc/lw508y\n \ngpx route file: 1103_jwbeloxxh_Dulwich-to-Streatham-Common

SUMMARY:Canada Water to North Greenwich - Healthy Ride
DESCRIPTION:Easy paced ride to see how far we can get along the Thames path heading east.  Thames path is now all open again after building work.  Some of the best cycle track you will ever see\, but also some very narrow bits.  Care needed on these stretches and giving way to pedestrians.  Hope to get to the Ecology Park. \nRoute starts by crossing Russia Woodland and joining the Thames Path at Greenland Passage. Good riverside path for a bit\, then the usual diversion inland around Convoys Wharf. Rejoin Thames at the Ahoy Centre and follow river past Cutty Sark and all the way round the peninsula. Should get well past the O2 and return across the peninsula to the blue bridge over the A102\, rejoining the Thames Path briefly at Enderby Wharf.  Detour inland around the Power Station for a change\, through the Naval College and back past Cutty Sark to the Deptford Creek foot bridge. Turn inland here to join Cycleway 1 at Bronze St and follow it for a mile to Blackhorse Rd. Cross A200 with care. Why there is no crossing on this stretch I do not know! Then Surrey Canal Linear Park and Greenland Dock back to Canada Water. \nLots to see on this flat route.  Route map at http://bit.ly/2uykRnc \nGpx filie here: Canada-Water-to-North-Greenwich-v2

SUMMARY:London Bridge to Walthamstow - Healthy Ride +
DESCRIPTION:Meet at the Southwark Needle (located on SE corner of London Bridge\, at top of Duke St Hill\, adjacent to London Bridge Station) for a 3.5 hour easy ride to Walthamstow.  Waltham Forest Borough Council have won a hat full of awards for their “Mini-Holland” project to improve walking and cycling (good info on Waltham Forest Cycling Campaign web site). People go on tours to see the changes – filtered roads\, segregated lanes on major roads etc. Even some Southwark Councilors went to have a look!  So long past time for the healthy riders to see what all the fuss is about. \nRoute will be out across London Bridge and through the City to Shoreditch\, where we join Q13. This takes us to London Fields where we join Q2 all the way to Lee Bridge Rd. Along the mostly new segregated cycle lane on Lee Bridge Rd for 2 miles before turning off to Walthamstow VIllage. Coffee stop in the newly pedetriansed bit of Orford St. Return back to Lee Bridge Rd\, then through Leyton to the river Lea at Leyton Jubilee Park. Follow the segregated path on Orient Way to Temple Mills\, then off road past the Tennis and Hockey Centre into the Olympic Park next to the Velodrome.  Across the top end of the park\, out past the Copper Box and over the bridges across the River Lea and the A12 into Victoria Park. Nice wide path round to the Gunmakers Gate\, then quiet streets to Mile End Park along the Regents Canal. Almost immediately join CS2 and zoom to Aldgate where the route turns left down to Tower Bridge and along Tooley St to our starting point. A lot of the route is on Cycleways\, some in parks and some on quiet streets.  The only unsegregated busy roads are at the start as we cross the City. SUMMARY:Peckham Healthy Ride to the Quaggy River\, Lewisham
DESCRIPTION:Easy-paced 2 hour ride\, this one mostly quiet roads with a few path sections through parks. Some gentle hills\, nothing extreme.\nThe Quaggy meets the Ravensbourne close to Lewisham station where much new development is taking place. The opportunity has been taken to open up this built-in water feature as “Confluence Park”. The ride will follow the Quaggy\, mostly hidden behind buildings in a sad concrete culvert. At Manor Park the river emerges\, but is still hidden away to start with\, although at the south end of the park you can get close on natural banks. Then to Manor House Gardens where the Quaggy is kept in a channel\, behind railings. What a contrast to the Ravensbourne in Brookmill Park which we will have seen earlier in the ride. Lots of information about the Quaggy on the web site of QWAG (Quaggy Waterways Action Group\, https://qwag.org.uk/river-quaggy/) whose “goal is to demonstrate\, using the Quaggy\, that rivers can be major assets to an urban environment – bringing natural beauty\, educational facilities and wildlife value into urban landscapes and urban lives.”\nRoute is at https://goo.gl/svHy65. Outward leg goes via Brookmill Park\, return leg goes past the Lewisham Leisure Centre\, Brockley Station and Nunhead. 16.5km\, just over 10 miles.\nThis ride is part of the regular Saturday morning Healthy Rides organised by Southwark Cyclists\, the local branch of the London Cycling Campaign. SUMMARY:Healthy Ride+ from Burgess Park to Wandsworth Park
DESCRIPTION:Idea is to explore a bit further west on the south side of the river. Burgess Park is on the west edge of Southwark\, so the obvious place to start. Last did this ride on August 31st 2019\, see report at http://healthyrider.weebly.com/healthy-ride-reports-august-sept-2019.html.\nOutward route will go via Vauxhall and Battersea Power Station to Battersea Park. Then round the park and on to the nice paths along the Battersea and Wandsworth riverside\, eventually reaching Wandsworth Park. If time\, could go a further ½ km and have a look at the rowers on the Putney Embankment. Coffee break in Wandsworth Park\, but sadly no time for a round on the well-maintained Crazy Golf Course. Return route has great contrasts. Back along the river to the bridge over Bell Lane Creek\, the mouth of the River Wandle. Then head south into Wandsworth town centre along shared use pavement and across cycle crossings to avoid the traffic on the 1-way system. Next King George’s Park with a nice path by the Wandle. At the south end of the park\, turn left and start heading home via Wandsworth and Clapham Commons. Fairly flat route\, 28km\, a lot of park and riverside traffic free.  Route at https://goo.gl/94U3Ve
