DESCRIPTION:Our mechanics and their weighty toolkits will be tightening brakes\, indexing gears and diagnosing that irritating squeak (“it’s the back wheel falling off”). They will be in their usual pitch at the Dunton Road/Lynton Road traffic lights near Cafe Crol (good coffee). Keeping them occupied is a full time job. Bring your problems — they particularly like tricky ones. It’s all free and open to all. \nThese sessions are run and funded by Southwark Cyclists. We are the borough branch of the London Cycling Campaign and everything we do is free and open to everyone wherever you live. After listening to it for about five years I have started following it myself. \nEverything we do is free and open to all. DESCRIPTION:Renaming stuff is cheaper than building it\, we can all agree. Cycleway 1 aka Quietway one is south-east London’s safest and most direct route to the centre (and back). Our guys are will be at the Dunton Road/Lynton Road crossroads. That’s the one with advance release lights on a three-way junction.   \nOur guys will be fixing bikes for all-comers. This service is free and enthusiastic. The bigger your problem the happier they are. They carry small parts like cables but not big ones like wheels. For bike reconstruction you will be referred onto our (also free) bike maintenance and tuition service which runs indoors all year round (see September 3rd)

The effect of nagging is such that after five years of hearing them say this I have started doing it every now and again. \nThey are cheerful\, helpful\, knowledgeable and have lots of tools. They will be under or near Peckham Arch which is the big arch-shaped object at the south end of Surrey Canal Path or the north end of Rye Lane (see pic). \nDrop by and get them working for you. Cyclists cycle 120 miles to Dunwich on the east coast in the light of the full moon and collapse on Dunwich Beach as the sun rises. Those who don’t feel like cycling the 120 miles back\, climb on a coach and wake up in Surrey Quays. Andy organises those coaches and the profit funds Dr Bike. \nAndy with Bruno and Mike makes up the three volunteers who support ace pro-mechanic Charlie (for pic see July 5th). Together they fix brakes\, index gears\, pump up tyres and knowledgeably discuss bottom brackets. They often but not always carry small parts so it’s best to bring them yourself if you know or suspect that you need them. \nEverything is free. You don’t need to live in Southwark or be a member of anything at all. There isn’t a catch that I’ve come across. People sometimes ask why we’re doing this and TBH I’m not entirely sure but we have a good time and everyone seems pleased with the results. \nYou can find us in Peckham Square between Peckham Pulse and Peckham Library.
