DESCRIPTION:A Southwark Cyclist will be holding the speedgun\, under the protection of PCSO Kevin Phillips. Kevin does all the organisational stuff and keeps angry drivers away. The occasional one still gets through but Kevin (see pic) has the might of the law around him\, so volunteers are very safe. The speedgun is easy to operate and the sessions last two hours. DESCRIPTION:Southwark Cyclist Werner will be holding the speedgun on Salter Road. He likes to bag lots of speeders and usually does. At the moment he’s the CSW top scorer with five pages of wrong-doers car numbers and top speeds in the 40s. \nYou can join in. To book a session text PCSO Kevin Phillips on kevin.j.phillips@met.police.uk and he will sort you out with a time and place. It’s fun. The response from pedestrians is very warm and enthusiastic — criticism is usually limited to “you ought to go down there\, the speeds are even worse”. Drivers are a bit more luke-warm but subdued. After all\, one of you is a policeman in full uniform.

With him will be PCSO Kevin Phillips to write down offenders’ car numbers and deal with drivers trying to argue back. This doesn’t happen often (unwise to argue with someone in police uniform) but it does happen. One guy wasted Kevin’s time refusing to believe that drivers kill more pedestrians than cyclists do.
