SUMMARY:Bike Train to the City
DESCRIPTION:Give up on railway trains. Forget the heat\, the stress\, the overcrowding.  Join us on the Bike Train. Always get a seat. Pay nothing. Help us turn stressed-out passengers into happy (bike) commuters. \nThere’s a bit more effort to it than that it’s true. But the route is good. Two parks\, a traffic-calmed backstreet\, the pavement-cycling lanes on the New Kent Road\, the Elephant and Castle bypass and then the lovely new Dutch-style segregated cycle lanes. \nWe leave Nunhead Station at 8am\, Denmark Hill and Peckham Rye Stations at 8.10 am and arrive at Blackfriars Bridge North at 8.45am. From there we take riders on individually (if they wish) to Faringdon\, Westminster\, Kings Cross or Tower Hill. \nThe meeting place at Peckham Rye Station is the bike stands behind McDonalds. At Denmark Hill it’s the cafe in Windsor Walk. If you are joining at Denmark Hill please let Liz Eden know you are coming on 07814 515 715. For Peckham Rye or Nunhead stations text me on 07842 640 207. Or just turn up. \nReturn rides by personal arrangement. All welcome. All free.

SUMMARY:Bike Train to Central London
DESCRIPTION:“It’s like being given the keys to the City” — that’s the comment of one Bike Trainer on arrival at Blackfriars Bridge. Come with us and see for yourself. Arrive happy and with a sense of achievement before 9am. \nWe leave Nunhead Station at 8am and meet other riders at 8.10 at the bike stands near Peckham Rye Station (behind McDonalds). A branch line starts from Denmark Hill Station at 8.10am (meet outside the cafe in Windsor Walk). Text Liz on 0781 451 5715 to let her know you’re coming. \nOur route includes two parks\, a traffic-calmed backstreet\, the on-pavement cycle lanes on the New Kent Road\, the Elephant and Castle cycling bypass and the lovely new segregated lanes to the river. We arrive at Blackfriars at 8.45am. \nFrom there it’s easy and safe to go on to Farringdon\, Mayfair\, Westminster and the Tower. We offer buddy rides to all these places and escorted rides back\, arranged individually. All fun and free. \nTo take part\, just turn up or text me on 07842 640 207 or mail southwark@lcc.org.uk. SUMMARY:Bike Train to central London and beyond
DESCRIPTION:The Bike Train led by experienced cyclists takes riders to Blackfriars on a route through two parks\, up a traffic-calmed backstreet\, around the Elephant and Castle by-pass and onto the wonderful new segregated cycle lanes. We set off from Nunhead station at 8am\, joining cyclists at Peckham Rye Station at 8.10am (from the bike stands behind McDonalds) and meeting a branch line from Denmark Hill at 8.20am in Burgess Park. That branch line leaves Denmark Hill at 8.10am. \nWe arrive at the north end of Blackfriars Bridge at 8.45am where riders go their separate ways accompanied (if they wish) by Bike Buddies who have so far taken cyclists on to Hyde Park\, Mayfair\, Kings Cross and Tower Hill. The majority of the route is off-route through parks or segregated — with three feet of raised pavement between riders and the traffic. \nRides back are arranged individually. Everyone is welcome. Unlike the trains\, everyone gets a seat\, no one gets a backpack in their face and there are no cancellations or delays. Arrive on time with a feeling of achievement before 9am. \nTo take part just turn up or text me on 07842 640 207 or mail southwark@lcc.org.uk \n

SUMMARY:Bike Train runs again
DESCRIPTION:The Bike Train runs again — the weather gods are smiling on us. We skip (can trains skip?) between the rain-drops\, lightening bolts and thunder. \nOur route is the usual one; two parks\, one traffic-calmed backstreet\, the pavement-cycling lanes on the New Kent Road\, the Elephant and Castle by-pass and onto the lovely new segregated cycle lanes. Everyone who tries it is converted. \nWe start from Nunhead Station at 8am; pick up at Peckham Rye station at 8.10am and meet a branch line coming in from Denmark Hill Station at 8.20am in Burgess Park. The departure point from Peckham Rye station is the bike stands behind McDonalds (west end of Holly Grove). We arrive at the north end of Blackfriars Bridge at 8.45am. \nFrom there we take riders on individually. So far we have taken people to Kings Cross\, Faringdon\, Mayfair\, Hyde Park and the Tower (not for incarceration). All this is free. Everyone is cheerful and no one fears for their life at any point. \nReturn rides are also arranged individually. Like real trains these are heart-stoppingly expensive. No that’s a joke. These are also cheerfully arranged and free. To join in mail southwark@lcc.org.uk or text me on 07842 640 207 or just turn up.

SUMMARY:Bike Train to central London and beyond
DESCRIPTION:Doesn’t that look nice? There’s about a mile of segregation on Blackfriars Road and St George’s Way taking you to the heart of London. The Bike Train takes you to the segregation and after Blackfriars to Westminster\, Mayfair\, Faringdon\, Kings Cross\, and Canary Wharf. You name it we can take you there (within reason\, like) \nWe use two parks\, a traffic-calmed backstreet\, the pavement-cycle-lanes on the New Kent Road\, the Elephant and Castle by-pass and then (joy) the segregation to Blackfriars. Anyone whose ever seen the traffic on the Old Kent Road will feel they have been transported to another city. \nThe Bike Train leaves Nunhead Station at 8am and picks up riders at the bike stands behind McDonalds in Rye Lane (right beside Peckham Rye Station). We pick up other riders from our Denmark Hill branch line in Burgess Park and then the train is fast (not really) to Blackfriars Bridge. \nThe segregation goes north from there to Faringdon\, west to Westminster and east to Tower Hill (I think). On from there on Cable Street (I’m told). You can tell I’m a bit hazy from there. \nTo join text me on 07842 604 207; email southwark@lcc.org.uk or just turn up. If we know you are coming we will wait.

SUMMARY:Bike Train to Central London
DESCRIPTION:This flowery bank is slightly off the Bike Train route. You have to stop in Burgess Park Cafe on the way back to get a good look at it. But you get the idea. This route goes through the park\, two parks in fact\, a traffic-calmed backstreet\, the New Kent Road on-pavement cycle lanes\, the Elephant and Castle bike by-pass and then the segregated lanes to Blackfriars and beyond. \nWe have taken bike commuters on to Kings Cross\, Faringdon\, Fleet Street\, Westminster\, Mayfair and Hyde Park. A branch line from Denmark Hill Station joins the Bike Train in Burgess Park (where the flowers are). Return journey arranged individually. \nWe start at 8am from Nunhead Station\, pick up at 8.10am from Peckham Rye Station (from the bike stands behind McDonalds) and arrive at the north end of Blackfriars Bridge at 8.45am. The Denmark Hill train leaves that station at 8.10am. \nTo ask for more details\, arrange a different pick up spot or tell us you are coming phone or text 07842 640 207 or mail southwark@lcc.org.uk. We are a lot more fun than the trains on tracks and a lot more reliable. And we wait for latecomers so if you know you are coming but might be a little late just text and we will wait for you

SUMMARY:Bike Train to Blackfriars and beyond
DESCRIPTION:This is our destination. The lovely new segregated cycle lanes to Blackfriars and beyond. Our “secret route” to the segregation takes us through two parks\, a traffic-calmed residential backstreet\, the pavement cycle lanes on the New Kent Road\, the E&C bypass and the Dutch-style cycle lanes. \nWe leave Nunhead Station at 8am and Peckham Rye Station (from the bike stands behind McDonalds) at 8.10am arriving Blackfriars 8.45am. Unlike the train we are free and reliable. Also unlike the train we will wait a short while if we know you are coming. Let us know by contacting southwark@lcc.org.uk or just turn up. \nReturn rides arranged personally on the day. Buddy riders to more off-beat destinations — Clapham Junction\, Ladbroke Grove to name just two — also arranged. Tell us your wishes (maybe restrict them to just one for now) and we will do our best

SUMMARY:Bike Train to Blackfriars
DESCRIPTION:Want to cycle up to town but worried about getting there safely? Come with us and use our “inside knowledge” (as one pleased rider called it). Our route includes two parks\, a traffic-calmed backstreet\, the New Kent Road pavement bike lanes\, the Elephant and Castle bypass and the lovely new segregation. No need to come anywhere near an HGV or a bus. Main hazards: dogs\, small children\, shopping trolleys and other cyclists. \nWe take riders on individually to Faringdon\, Kings Cross\, Mayfair and Westminster. Return rides by arrangement on the day. \nWe leave Nunhead Station at 8am\, Peckham Rye station (from the bike stands behind McDonalds) at 8.10am and arrive at Blackfriars at 8.45. We are free and reliable (unlike the train) and\, equally unlike the train\, we will wait if we know you are coming. So to book your place\, mail southwark@lcc.org.uk or text me 07842 640 207

SUMMARY:Bike Train Wednesday
DESCRIPTION:The Bike Train will start as usual at 8am from Nunhead Station picking up riders at Peckham Rye Station from the bike stands behind McDonalds at 8.10am. A new service will leave Denmark Hill Station at 8.10 to join us in Burgess Park. ETA Blackfriars Bridge 8.45am. \nWe will be following our trusty backstreets route through two parks\, a residential\, traffic-calmed backstreet\, the New Kent Road on-pavement cycle lanes\, the E&C bypass and then the segregated cycle lanes up St George’s Road and Blackfriars Road to the bridge. \nFrom there Bike Buddies will take you on to Faringdon\, Kings Cross and Mayfair. For other end destinations\, just ask. Return Rides arranged personally. \nThe aim of the route is to enjoy the ride and arrive safely. No one shares the road with a bus or an HGV. SUMMARY:Bike Train Awayday Weekender
DESCRIPTION:The Bike Train ride with no work at the other end of it. What’s not to like? \nThe idea is to start from the place the Bike Train starts at Peckham Rye Station\, from the bike stands behind McDonalds. Then to follow the Bike Train route up to town\, do a loop to look at the sights and come home again. \nThe advantage of doing it on a non-working day would be less stress\, quieter roads\, and no feeling of having to get anywhere by a certain time. The pace would be slower\, we could take the kids\, anyone could stop\, drop out or turn round and go home at any point\, less commitment\, less stress. \nWe will do an interesting circle from Blackfriars along the Embankment to Westminster and back via the South Bank Centre so that it’s not just a route but has more context and shows ways to get to more interesting places than work.

SUMMARY:Bike Train: NEW Denmark Hill branch
DESCRIPTION:From Wednesday May 11th the Bike Train service is expanding to Denmark Hill station. It will leave Denmark Hill at 8.10 am meeting up with the rest of the carriages in Burgess Park. Timetable will be otherwise unchanged\, leaving Nunhead at 8am and Peckham Rye Station (from the bike stands behind McDonalds) at 8.10am. The same excellent and reliable service will be provided. Great cycling weather is guaranteed. \nThe Bike Train runs to Blackfriars station but there are great onward connections from there to Faringdon\, Kings Cross\, Westminster and Mayfair with riders travelling on to all these destinations who can take fellow travellers along. \nWe are also running a weekend Bike Train over the same route\, probably on May 15th. Whether to run it in the morning or afternoon isn’t yet decided. Obviously this won’t be a Bike Train to work but it will be all the better for that. The idea is see the route\, try it out\, and drink coffee along the way without the added stress of trying to get to work and worrying about being late and covered in oil. \nIf you are interested and you are already in touch about the Bike Train just mail us and say so. Otherwise mail southwark@lcc.org.uk and we’ll be in touch

SUMMARY:Bike Train to Blackfriars
DESCRIPTION:Experienced\, trained ride leaders escort the Bike Train to Blackfriars Bridge via two parks\, a traffic-calmed backstreet\, the Elephant and Castle Bypass and the new segregated cycle lanes. There is never less than 10 foot of pavement or 3 foot of raised concrete between you and the nearest bus or HGV. \nComments so far include: “a fabulous ride”  and “a revelation”. The Bike Train starts at Nunhead Station at 8am\, takes on more riders at Peckham Rye Station (from the bike stands behind McDonalds) and arrives at Blackfriars at 8.45am. A branch line from Denmark Hill is planned. \nWe also do Bike Taxis — personalised rides that take YOU to exactly where you want to go because very few people have Blackfriars Bridge as their end destination of choice. \nAnd we bring you back because most people want to come home at some point.
