SUMMARY:community speedwatch
DESCRIPTION:Southwark Cyclist volunteer\, Werner\, will be wielding the speed gun this evening on Southwark Bridge Road. He’s a dedicated speeder-catcher and currently tops the board for numbers of taxis caught in one session. Admittedly he hangs out in SE1 (principally) where the black cabs hang out too so he has an advantage on the rest of us. Top speed caught on speedgun so far (any vehicle- type eligible) is 66 mph. There aren’t any prizes and anyone can join in. Email PCSO Kevin Phillips (pictured) at kevin.j.phillips@met.police.uk and tell him you want to volunteer. He’ll encourage you. More detail here: https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/66-in-a-20mph-zone/

SUMMARY:community speedwatch
DESCRIPTION:A Southwark Cyclists’ volunteer will be helping police with their enquiries this morning with a particular emphasis on speed and other anti-social behaviours relating to motor cars. As far as War on the Motorist goes this is low level stuff but it’s a pretty complete answer to the idea that if speeding mattered the police would police it..  They are trying and you can help them. Email PCSO Kevin Phillips (pictured) at kevin.j.phillips@met.police.uk and he will do his best to encourage you. More info here: https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/66-in-a-20mph-zone/ \n

SUMMARY:Community Speedwatch
DESCRIPTION:Speedwatch is a joint enterprise between the community and the police\, going equipped with a speedgun. The volunteer points the gun and calls out the mph and PCSO Kevin Phillips\, representing the long arm of the law\, writes down the car numbers. It can be a bit frustrating. Drivers stamp hard on the brakes when they spot the speedgun and the gun can’t give a reading until the speed stops dropping. Still\, every little helps. \nPedestrians and cyclists are generally very supportive. Drivers\, and particularly scaffolding lorry drivers\, less so. The volunteer is an essential part of the process so if you can join in\, please do so. You can email Kevin directly at kevin.j.phillips@met.police.uk and he will try and arrange times\, dates and locations to suit you. Highly recommended. Surprisingly good fun.

SUMMARY:Community Speedwatch
DESCRIPTION:Want to hold a speedgun and see just how fast drivers are going? You need Speedwatch\, TfL-funded\, police-led\, volunteer-peopled campaign against speeding. The statistics gathered by CSW have encouraged the police to take speeding more seriously and run speed-traps of their own. Volunteers are always welcome. To join in\, email organiser PCSO Kevin Phillips (see pic) at kevin.j.phillips@met.police.uk.. He’s an affable guy and very opposed to speeding. He’ll be pleased to hear from you.

SUMMARY:Community Speedwatch
DESCRIPTION:Southwark Cyclists volunteer\, Werner\, will be holding the speedgun on Salter Road. The speed limit is 20 but speeds over 40 are frequently clocked up. With him will be PCSO Kevin Phillips writing down the numbers and speeds. Kevin passes the culprits on to TfL who send them rude letters\, pointing out that if they continue in their errant ways they will be added to a police database of naughty drivers and attract the attention of traffic police. To join in email kevin.j.phillips@met.police.uk. He will be delighted to hear from you.

SUMMARY:Community Speedwatch
DESCRIPTION:CSW is a co-operative venture\, funded by TfL and led by the police\, to remind drivers that speed limits apply to them too.  Cyclists have good reason to care about speeding on the road and so\, step forward\, Southwark Cyclists volunteers. We will be holding the speed gun on Dog Kennel Hill in East Dulwich under the protection of PCSO Kevin Phillips. It’s Kevin who fields the (generally contrite) van drivers who worry that a fine is coming their way. A depressingly large proportion start by asking what the speed limit is (it’s always 20). To join in or get more info email kevin.j.phillips@met.police.uk. He will be pleased to hear from you.

SUMMARY:Community Speedwatch
DESCRIPTION:Road peace campaigner Amy will be holding the speedgun and doing her bit to discourage dangerous driving. CSW is a TfL-funded\, police-led\, collaboration between the police and the community. The volunteer holds the speedgun and shouts out the numbers and organiser PCSO Kevin Phillips takes down the details and arranges the rude letters that go out to drivers from TfL. Repeat offenders find themselves on the police bad-drivers database receiving unwanted extra attention from the Met. To join in email Kevin.j.phillips@met.police.uk. He will be delighted to hear from and keen to fit you in. Enjoy.

SUMMARY:Community Speedwatch
DESCRIPTION:A Southwark Cyclist volunteer will be pointing a speed gun at hurriedly braking drivers on Salter Road. With her will be PCSO Kevin Phillips writing down number plates\, make and colour of those who didn’t stamp on the brakes hard enough. Getting noted down for the first time gets you a letter from TfL pointing out the error of your ways. Three strikes gets you onto the police national database of badly behaved drivers and extra attention on the road. This can be an enjoyable and even exciting way of passing time. To join in email Kevin on Kevin.j.Phillips@met.police.uk and he will be delighted to add you to his workforce.

SUMMARY:Community Speedwatch
DESCRIPTION:Southwark Cyclists volunteer Werner will be wielding the speedgun and shouting out the (outrageous) speeds on Salter Road. PCSO Kevin Phillips will be taking their numbers\, makes and colours and organising the reproving letters coming their way. First two strikes are letters with growing levels of threat. Third puts the numbers on the police national computer for special attention. \nThe end of lockdown seems to have driven drivers nuts. Lunatics passing within centimeters of my handlebars and shouting insults from their car windows are continuous in my vicinity. Too much Spice and not enough alcohol. T \nYou can calm them down a bit by volunteering for Speedwatch which is enjoyable revenge (personal testimonial). If you feel the call but the schedule is inconvenient\, then Kevin will cheerfully adapt it to your availability and your chosen spot. \nSpeedwatch is a good deed in a slightly brightening world. It’s run by the Met at the behest of TfL.  Kevin is a jovial soul. More info on the virtues of Speedwatch here: https://southwarkcyclists.org.uk/66-in-a-20mph-zone/. To join in\, email Kevin at Kevin.j.Phillips@met.police.uk. He’s very welcoming.

SUMMARY:Community Speedwatch
DESCRIPTION:A Southwark Cyclist volunteer will be helping the police with their enquiries in Long Lane. Specifically their enquiries into who’s driving too fast and not spotting the guys in yellow fluorescent holding a speed gun. Answer: a surprisingly large number. The volunteer holds the gun\, clocks the speeds and shouts them out. PCSO Kevin Phillips knows the car makes and takes their number plates. Success. It’s remarkable fun. To join in\, email Kevin at Kevin.j.Phillips@met.police.uk and he will add you to his little list. You can suggest likely spots and Kevin will check them out. The suggested schedule includes weekends. It’s fun.

SUMMARY:Car-free day 2019
DESCRIPTION:Southwark Cyclists Car Free Day \nSouthwark Cyclists are planning to run rides and events as part of London Car Free Day\, starting at 11am.  The programme will include group rides around the car free area (including Tooley St\, Tower Bridge\, Fenchurch St\, Bank\, Bishopsgate\, London Bridge).  We will be organising some small competitions on Tooley St to test your cycling skills\, e.g. slow races\, track standing\, limbo.  Bring any equipment for street games\, e.g. tennis or badmnton rackets and shuttles/balls\, in case we get bored with cycling (unlikely\, but we might just fancy a quick game of something else). \nWe are asking you to sign up so we have an idea of numbers and can do some planning. If a lot of people are coming we will maintain a constant presence at the Needle.  If we are not there\, come and search for us. Look for a bike with an orange flag on a tall pole.  See you there! \nIt would be helpful to know rough numbers\, so if you are planning to come along there’s an (optional) Evenbrite form at:  https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/southwark-cyclists-car-free-day-tickets-72845110687   Do not worry if you have not done this – just turn up. We will be there. \nSeptember 22nd is London’s biggest car-free day so far\, closing 12.3 miles (20km) of roads in the centre of the city. Roads will be closed around London Bridge\, Tower Bridge and much of the City of London.  Boroughs across the city will also hold events promoting walking\, cycling and public transport\, as well as creating scores of “play streets”.
